Job Description

Montgomery College, Assessment and Testing Centers Unit, is currently seeking to hire a Full-time, Assessment Center Manager at the Rockville Campus. This position reports to the assessment and testing center director. The work schedule is typically Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with some evening and weekend hours and traveling between college campus and locations. This position is not eligible for telework. This is a Non-Bargaining, Exempt, Grade 29 position. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Manages and/or directs all operations of an assessment center.
  • Plan, develop, oversee, and evaluate placement testing programs and research activities.
  • Conduct recruitment/interviewing and recommend the hiring of employees.
  • Conduct formal and informal coaching and recommend disciplinary action.
  • Evaluate the training needs of staff and coordinate and/or conduct in-house training.
  • Approve overtime, leave request, and schedules.
  • Support faculty by assisting with pilot projects, identifying students in the target populations, compiling data, administering assessment instruments, and collaborating with the Office of Information Technology to develop technology to further enhance program operations.
  • Determine the appropriate use, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, or replacement of hardware and software.
  • Maintain a large database system for in-house data collection and analysis and compile statistical and narrative reports.
  • Adhere to local, state, federal and nationally accepted guidelines for managing a testing center, directing testing programs, safeguarding test materials, and maintaining the integrity of all testing programs.
  • Coordinate and implement academic-support initiatives with area public high schools to assess college readiness.
  • Provide support for standardized testing for professional organizations and students enrolled at other educational institutions.
  • Coordinate the development and revision of assessment policies in conjunction with student development and instructional deans, department chairpersons, and representatives of diverse college-wide committees and offices.
  • Implement assessment procedures and conduct strategic planning for the Center.  
  • Develop Center budget for supplies and equipment, and make recommendations for future programmatic needs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in counseling, education or a related field is required; or the equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Two years of supervision.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience administering assessment and evaluation tools at a post-secondary institution, secondary school, certified learning center, or related environment.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual in one of the most common second languages spoken in Montgomery County (Spanish, Amharic, Chinese, Vietnamese, or French).
  • Practical knowledge of learning management systems, student information programs and/or online proctoring platforms such as Banner, Starfish, Blackboard, Meazure Learning, Register Blast, ZOOM, and MS Teams.
  • Supervision experience in an educational environment, preferably higher education, that includes training, coaching and managing of direct reports and/or full-time professionals.

Hiring Range $69,668 to $90,580/annually. Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity.
