Edmonds College is excited to announce an opportunity for a highly motivated and experienced Benefits Manager to join our Human Resources team! About the Position:

The Benefits Manager plays a vital role in ensuring our faculty, classified staff, and exempt employees receive comprehensive and competitive benefits. You will be responsible for the administration, communication, education of our benefits program, and fostering a positive employee experience. The position is responsible for management and administration of benefits consults. This position is also responsible for monitoring, auditing, and reporting related to benefits.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of employee benefits, including medical through the Health Care Authority (HCA), dental, vision, life insurance, retirement plans, disability insurance, FMLA and PFMLA leave administration, and workers' compensation.
  • Stay current on federal and state regulations impacting employee benefits and ensure program compliance.
  • Develop and deliver informative benefits presentations and workshops for new and existing employees.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to employees regarding their benefits options.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date benefits data within the Human Resources Information System (Specifically ctcLink - Peoplesoft).
  • Collaborate with Human Resources leadership on strategic initiatives related to employee benefits.

This is an exempt position that reports to the Vice President for HR.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience in benefits administration.
  • Proven knowledge of federal and state benefits regulations (FMLA, PFMLA, COBRA, HIPAA, etc.).
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • HRIS experience using ctcLink or Peoplesoft
  • Proficient in Google Suite of applications
  • Experience in higher education benefits administration

PHYSICAL WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work is typically performed in an office setting, and onsite/in-person. The ability to sit at a desk/computer station, bend, stoop, walk and generally move around the office to consult with others, work within a busy environment and remain focused on tasks. File management requires some lifting and moving of objects up to 30lbs. Excellent communication skills are essential. This includes the ability to speak clearly and fully comprehend written and spoken English and will include communication with people for whom English is not their first language. This also includes the ability to produce clearly written documents. Those who are multilingual are strongly encouraged to apply.

COMPENSATION:

Salary is $87,350.55-$96,950.83 and is based on the Edmonds CC administrative/exempt salary schedule, plus a full state benefits package, which includes tuition waivers for college classes, medical, dental, retirement options and more. Vacation and leave package includes 12 sick days per year, 11 scheduled holidays, 1 personal holiday, and 24 vacation leave days per year.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

FLSA Status:

The position is an exempt position under the Fair Labor Standards Act requirements.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

  • You must document your citizenship or employment authorization within three days of hire.

Information from the background check will not necessarily preclude employment but will be considered in determining the applicants suitability and competence to perform in the position.
