Position Summary

The Opportunity: The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) is a federally funded program designed to support students from farm migrant and seasonal farm worker backgrounds during their first year of college. The program provides students with financial assistance and support services, with the goal of preparing them to be successful at Skagit Valley College.

The College Assistance Migrant Program (CAMP) is seeking a Full-Time Program Coordinator interested in working with CAMP students and staff. This position is primarily responsible for completing administrative processes and maintaining documentation of CAMP services. The project Program Coordinator will be an essential team member for the CAMP program and will provide education and support to students and campus stakeholders, and collaborate with campus and community partners in support of program and college initiatives. This position will provide logistical support related to programming, social media, events, and day-to-day operations. This position is responsible for explaining the program's policies, procedures, and regulations to students and their families, faculty/staff, and the public. This position reports to the CAMP Director.

This is a 12-month, 100% full-time, Classified position working primarily on the Mount Vernon Campus.

The Location: Skagit Valley College is on the traditional and unceded territories of the Coast Salish Peoples, especially on Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, Upper Skagit Indian Tribe, Samish Indian Nation, Nooksack Indian Tribe, and Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe. Located in a geographically diverse region between the dynamic metropolitan hubs of Seattle and Vancouver, BC, SVC is never far from world-class outdoor recreation, urban arts scenes, and local cultural events. Duties and Responsibilities

 

  • Manage student profiles in current and past CAMP cohorts;
  • Manage and archive CAMP records;
  • Ensure adherence to the applicable district, college, state, and Federal requirements;
  • Manage project budget to ensure effective use of project resources and develop a process for transparent and timely process for authorization of expenditures;
  • Directly work with migrant students to provide support in making connections within CAMP and across campus departments;
  • Coordinate with campus partners in programming, advising, retention, and other support efforts (including representing the Program in these efforts and communicating related expectations back to the Program);
  • Attend and coordinate CAMP staff and informational meetings, including preparing agendas, reports, and minutes with SVC, community partners, and target school partners;
  • Assist in community events and orientation activities;
  • Support the CAMP program in scheduling meetings travel arrangements and planning;
  • Assist in facilitating presentations on behalf of SVCs CAMP to migrant communities and organizations serving migrant students and families;
  • Work closely with Professional Development on interim and annual performance report completion;
  • Perform other duties as assigned by CAMP Director;
  • Assist with student communications and program even coordination;
  • Program budget reconciliation and reporting;
  • Order supplies and program materials as needed;
  • Provide comprehensive customer services to students;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Multilingual Skills (Spanish and English and/or other Indigenous languages);
  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • One (1) year of specific experience related to school, office, or community experience in farm work or other related areas;
  • Experience working and communicating with diverse populations.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with fiscal record keeping and monitoring student records;
  • CAMP or Migrant Seasonal Farm work experience or First-Generation Background;
  • Multilingual English and Spanish, and/or other Indigenous languages, including the ability to read, write and speak at an intermediate level;
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills.

 

Salary, Benefits, Conditions of Employment, Application Procedure

 

  • Salary is based on Range 40, Step A, $3,376 per month with periodic increments to $4,385 per month. Salary placement is typically made at the starting salary for the range. Placement higher in the range may be considered for qualifications and experience. Salary and benefits are subject to change in accordance with legislative mandates and collective bargaining agreements.
  • This position is eligible for overtime pay in accordance with the Fair Labor Standards Act.
  • This is a union-represented position subject to a collective bargaining agreement.

Conditions of Employment:
