Position Summary

NOTE: CHATTAHOOCHEE VALLEY COMMUNITY COLLEGE OBSERVES EASTERN TIME.

The Associate Dean of Career and Technical Education (CTE) and Workforce Training fosters connections with both internal and external stakeholders by implementing marketing and promotional strategies for workforce programs and student recruitment. Additionally, this position entails providing effective leadership and oversight for all academic workforce development programs, aligning them with the College's mission. This includes spearheading the development and coordination of customized training initiatives to meet the specific needs of the workforce. The incumbent will supervise the Director of Workforce Development, the Director of Adult Education, and CTE faculty.

Salary: Appropriate placement on Salary Schedule C1: $93,079-$128,692.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. In coordination with the Director of Workforce Development, manages the vision and direction of the workforce training programs; identifies unmet industry and business needs; leads the discussion with internal stakeholders to recommend, develop and implement key programs and initiatives.

2. Leads efforts to develop and/or strengthen the relationship(s) between the College and external stakeholders, including industry/business, government, military entities, K-12 schools, and other interested entities.

3. Provides day-to-day leadership and management of CTE and workforce development programs, courses, and functions, ensuring programs are relevant with current and future directions of business and industry.

4. Serves on committees, advisory boards, and task forces in the community and represents the College on regional and state workforce development initiatives as assigned.

5. Develop and manage recruitment strategies for all CTE and workforce development efforts.

6. Oversees the development and management of program budgets; monitors and authorizes expenditures; identifies and prepares contingency or emergency budgeting requests; monitors facility use to ensure operations are in support of instructional resource needs and in compliance with college policy.

7. Establishes and maintains an effective advisory committee in support of each CTE program.

8. Coordinate an annual Business or Industry Luncheon.

9. Coordinates the development of apprenticeships and internships for CTE programs.

10. Pursues grant opportunities to strengthen workforce training needs.

11. Supervises and evaluates assigned employees including the Adult Education Director.

12. Supports strategic planning by establishing clear goals and objectives, reviewing Career and Technical Education (CTE) and workforce objectives, outlining tasks to achieve these objectives, and assessing their effectiveness.

13. Prepares comprehensive departmental reports, including the Annual Perkins Report, the Alabama Community College System Office comprehensive program review, annual yearly accomplishments report, and other relevant reports.

14. Pursues meaningful professional development opportunities for faculty and staff in the department.

15. Facilitates programmatic accreditation efforts for CTE programs.

16. Works a flexible schedule that may involve travel with some evening and weekend work.

17. Serves as direct point of contact for Small Business Incubator.

18. Perform other duties as assigned.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Adhere to all policies and procedures set forth by the College.

2. As a Campus Security Authority (CSA), report to the official or office designated by the institution to collect crime report information, such as the campus police or security department, those allegations of Clery Act crimes that the CSA concludes were made in good faith.

13. Participate in graduation.

14. Participate in the College's planning process.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters degree from a regionally accredited institution in a related field of study.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in coordinating or managing career technical education programs.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in providing workforce training specifically tailored for the business and industry sector.
  • Three (3) or more years of direct experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment methodologies.
  • Three (3) or more years of management-level experience reasonably related to the administrative assignment.
  • Experience with programmatic or regional accreditation processes.
  • Proficiency in grant writing and grant management.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Three (3) or more years of grant writing and grant management experience.
