Coordinator, Veteran Affairs

Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of addressing the special needs of all veteran students by providing online and on-campus services (i.e. college advising, scheduling of classes, aiding students through the registration and enrollment process, testing, career exploration, financial aid, job placement services, etc.).

Has the ability to conduct research and provide statistical data regarding veterans for best practices and strategies that aligned with the colleges overall strategic initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide advising to prospective and current students.

Guide students in the awareness and planning of their post-secondary school curriculum, including the selection of the courses and programs of study.

Facilitate registration, orientation, workshops and seminars.

Conduct internal and external recruitment efforts.

Coordinate the Veterans Advisory Board and help to facilitate meetings.

Provide assistance to students, parents and community agencies with accurate up-to-date information, which will assist them in making sound educational decisions.

Advise students in the acquisition, usage and evaluation of information including College guidelines, catalogs and computer based guidance systems.

Facilitate the planning and hosting On-Campus College visits for parents and students.

Provide referrals for students needing services such as: tutoring, testing, career counseling, financial aid, disability services, etc. Prepare and submit reports of statistical reports for veterans to supervisor which includes, but not limited to, special project activities, student contacts, and other data as requested.

Review and continually update the Veteran Affairs resources including the website, and work seamlessly with the Marketing Department to publish advertisements.

Certify veterans in conjunction with the Veterans Administration for students seeking certificate(s) and/or degrees.

Manage the development and implementation of policies, procedures and information pertaining to Veterans Student Services.

Work with the Colleges and coordinates a Veterans Students Organization.

Establish and maintain inter-departmental relationships with all Student Services and Instructional Programs.

Represent College as needed in events.

Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
  • Bachelors degree required
  • 3 years related experience is required
Licensing & Certification

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
