TRIO Student Support Services Program seeks a seeks a P/T Adjunct Academic Counselor. The Academic Adjunct Counselor-TRIO will deliver comprehensive academic advising through completion to students that meet the program qualifications. This position uses high-impact advising practices and tools to support the persistence, good academic standing, graduation, and transfer for program participants. This on-campus, part-time and grant-funded position is contingent upon the availability of funds. The responsibilities of the Adjunct Academic Counselor will include the following:
Deliver comprehensive academic advising and support services to students through degree completion;
Develop and maintain academic student profiles, individualized educational plans, student contact reports, and diagnostic, academic & tutorial progress reports;
Act as lead staff in the provision of individual and group sessions to students on academic, financial, career, transfer, and personal issues;
Provide timely and supportive interventions through Viking Success (Starfish) to monitor and intervene for at-risk and on-track indicators;
Conduct regular outreach to faculty and other college staff as needed to support student success;
Provide appropriate referrals to academic and non-academic college services;
Assist the TRIO SSSP Director in identifying, interviewing, and selecting student participants;
Assist in the development and maintenance of coordinated academic services for TRIO SSSP participants, including conducting students' workshops, preparing newsletters and brochures and accompanying students on field trips to other colleges and cultural events;
Participate in assessment activities and presentations;
Work in close conjunction with the Director to ensure program objectives and recruitment goals are achieved;
Participate in staff and professional development meetings;
Provide information for grant reporting.
Job Requirements:
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: The successful candidate must possess one of the following:
Master's Degree and Bachelor's Degree in Guidance Counseling, Psychology, Sociology, or closely related field, and one (1) year of professional experience.
Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field as listed above, and three (3) years of professional experience.
Master's Degree in a relevant field as listed above, plus a Bachelor's degree in a non-specific field, and two (2) years of experience.
The successful candidate will have experience with delivering comprehensive case management advising and a clear understanding of high-impact advising practices and tools. All candidates must have evidence of responsiveness to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, as these factors relate to the need for equity-minded practice. Effective oral and written communication skills are required. Also required is proficiency in software systems including Microsoft Office applications, as well as a detail-oriented approach to data entry and tracking. The successful candidate will be able to relate well with students and colleagues, have strong project management and facilitation skills, and have the ability to work with a team of diverse faculty, staff and students.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Familiarity with delivering comprehensive case management advising is preferred. Demonstrated work experience with first-generation, low-income individuals, and/or students with disabilities in a higher education setting preferred. Bilingual verbal and written fluency is also strongly preferred.

WORK SCHEDULE: This is an on campus, part-time position for 20 hours per week.
HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $45.32 per hour. No benefits. This is a grant funded position.
