Western Australian Centre for Rural Health (WACRH)
- Based in Karratha, Pilbara region of Western Australia, full time appointment on a fixed term basis until the end of May 2026
- Fractional / part time appointment will be considered
- Salary range: Level A $76,686 – $99,759 p.a. or Level B $108,509 – $128,404 p.a. plus 17% superannuation
- Remote and rural allowance may apply (appointment level will be dependent on qualifications and experience)

About the team
The Western Australian Centre for Rural Health (WACRH) is administered by the University of Western Australia and is part of a network of University Departments of Rural Health across Australia. WACRH has expanded from its main centre in Geraldton into the Pilbara region with an office and academics in the City of Karratha where this position will be located.
WACRHs vision is to be a leader in the creation and optimisation of rural health knowledge and practice that improves the health of rural communities.
About the opportunity
Under the direction of the Associate Professor in Rural Health, you will participate in the development of innovative professional practice programs for students in their own profession, and in interprofessional practice opportunities. The role will include clinical supervision and evaluation of undergraduate, graduate entry, and postgraduate students as well as support for project based placements.
You will collaborate with the WACRH team in Geraldton, Karratha and Carnarvon through their role with student placement administration. You will liaise with key stakeholders including local health service providers, community groups and relevant universities.
You will contribute to the evaluation of the student placement program and the impacts on the students work readiness, rural and remoted practice understanding and attraction to future rural health positions together with other teaching, research and evaluation activities as directed.
To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:
- Recognised degree in Occupational Therapy, professional registration with Ahpra that enables clinical practice in Australia and have a minimum of 2 years post registration experience.
- Experience in clinical supervision
- Experience in managing a general client caseload
- Commitment to principles of client-centred, culturally appropriate health care, interprofessional practice, service learning and community development as they apply to rural and remote Australian communities
- Experience in the integration of theory to drive the development, delivery and evaluation of innovative allied health programs
- Postgraduate qualification in a field that supports professional practice, health professional education, public health or research/evaluation (desirable)
- Knowledge of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) and NDIS Plans (desirable)
- Experience in regional and remote health settings (desirable)

To succeed in this position, you will possess effective organisational, time management and communication skills within a team environment. Demonstrated commitment to increasing Aboriginal peoples roles in improving the health and well-being of their communities, as planners and managers, service providers, trainers and trainees is essential in this position.
Note: A current “C” class drivers licence, Working with Children Check, National Police Clearance, and the ability to undertake rural travel are all requirements of this position.
