Adjunct Faculty - EMS (Workforce)

Job Description

The primary responsibility of this individual is to provide quality instruction to Western Wyoming Community College Workforce students enrolled in industry-requested classes taught either at the Green River Center campus in Green River, Wyoming or virtually. This individual must be able to relate to a wide variety of students in the community college environment. This individuals responsibilities will primarily involve teaching courses and advancing skill levels of employees involved in the emergency medical services and public safety arena.

It is expected that this individual will accomplish assigned duties in an efficient, effective and competent manner, and strive for improvement and excellence in all work performed. Additionally, this individual must understand the comprehensive role of the community college and cooperate and work harmoniously with college personnel and the public. This individual must follow all college policies, rules, regulations and guidelines as they relate to this position.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Provides quality instruction to students in assigned courses, particularly those related to Emergency Medical Services, including safety, CPR/First Aid, initial EMS licensure courses, and other industry-related content as may be requested.
2. Provides quality learning experiences for all students in accordance with their needs and abilities while maintaining the basic integrity of the course standards and objectives.
3. States clear objectives and criteria in each course syllabus; follows the Curriculum Committees guidelines regarding course syllabi; integrates Westerns Goals for Student Success and student outcomes into each course; evaluates students performance in light of these objectives and criteria.
4. Teaches courses in a variety of physical and classroom environments as required. Courses are typically run on a year-round basis so as to best serve the needs of industry partners. Material is to be presented both in the classroom as well as outdoor and/or simulated environments, in order to effectively simulate actual working conditions for students.
5. Designs and implements effective learning processes for students; provides feedback on student improvement in attaining the Colleges Learning Goals and student outcomes.
6. Learns to communicate clearly and effectively using the college network system, including regular use of e-mail and calendar system, MyWestern, and Canvas; integrates learning with technology into the classroom as appropriate.
9. Submits syllabi, student evaluations, grades, and other required information in a timely manner.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Minimum of Wyoming Intermediate EMT Licensure.
2. Minimum of 3 years hands on employment experience within the Emergency Medical Services industry.
3. Knowledge of the concepts, technologies, principles and practices of current industry operations.
4. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and administrators.
5. Ability to exercise sound judgment in all facets of the student-teacher relationship and to teach a diverse group of community college students.
6. Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Paramedic Licensure is preferred.
2. Prior teaching or training experience is highly desirable.
3. A college degree or certificate in a relevant field is desirable.
4. Possession of current industry-accepted instructor certifications (CPR/First Aid, ACLS, PALS, NAEMT etc.)
