The North Carolina Community College System (System Office) is a statewide network of 58 public community colleges. The system enrolls over 500,000 students annually. It is the 3rd largest in the nation based on the number of colleges. It also provides data to the North Carolina Learning Object Repository by collecting, contributing, and sharing digital learning resources for use in traditional or distance learning environments. Primary duty station will be at a Community College near employees' residence with travel throughout region. The purpose of the role is the promotion, development, registration, and servicing of all registered apprenticeships in assigned region. There are typically seven phases that one would anticipate in the life cycle of apprenticeship outreach and promotion, program development (with employer, consortium, or sponsor), apprenticeship
registration, completion, provisional assessments, quality assessments, and in some cases EEO assessments. Some key position notes are as follows:
- The Apprenticeship Consultant (Consultant) is responsible for all phases of throughout the lifecycle for programs in their region.
- Programs are flexible and designed by employers to meet their needs but must comply with criteria set by state and federal apprenticeship rules and regulations.
- The Consultant along with the employer, assesses existing training needs, project future needs and design training programs to meet those needs.
- The Consultant will share best practices from existing apprenticeships throughout the state and trends in individual occupations that can update other sections of the state to facilitate program development. The Consultant is responsible for bringing together industry groups for industry wide development of training that can be used statewide or in local industries or groups.
- The Consultant oversees multiple projects and programs in various stages of development and is expected to allocate resources to best accomplish divisional goals.
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week) with State Benefits.
The recruitment salary is up to $65,000.
Note to Current State Employees:
The salary grade for this position is NC15. State employees are encouraged to apply for positions of interest even if the salary grade is the same as, or lower than, their current position. If selected for this position, a new salary will be recalculated taking into consideration the quantity of relevant education and experience, funding availability, and internal equity. Based upon these factors, a pay increase MAY result.

- Proficiency in all Microsoft applications
- Skills in marketing, presentations, and project management.

- Understanding of organizational processes and structure to be able to navigate various organizations.
- Knowledge of registered apprenticeship programs.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Bachelors degree in business administration, human resources, industrial education, instructional design or discipline related to the assigned workforce training area from an appropriately accredited institution and three years of experience in designing, providing, and/or coordinating industry-specific training in higher education, business or the public sector; OR
Associates degree in any of those same disciplines from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of experience in designing, providing, and/or coordinating industry-specific training;
OR
An equivalent combination of education and experience
