Description
Through leadership by example, provide instruction, administer authentic assessments, and foster an active learning environment that is focused on student foundational competence, success, retention, and completion.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities (include, but not limited to)
1. Develop and maintain course curriculum. Align curriculum to departmental, state, and/or other applicable standards and outcomes.
2. Plan, deliver and facilitate student learning, including providing ongoing quality feedback to students.
3. Assess student attainment of learning outcomes and critical life skills (both formative and summative), at the course, program, and college level.
4. Collect, report, analyze, and use data to support continuous improvement at the course, program and college level.
5. Use technology to facilitate student learning, college processes, and personal productivity.
6. Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
7. Participate as a productive member of a team.
8. Maintain college learning resources and equipment.
9. Participate in recruitment and retention activities.
10. Pursue ongoing professional development, maintain occupational competency, and ensure knowledge of current laws and regulations related to the profession(s) in which instruction is provided.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Demonstrated working knowledge of discipline, curriculum development, effective teaching/learning, and evaluation.
- Effective interpersonal communication skills - oral, written and listening.
- Strong customer service skills, working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to manage time and organize work.
- Ability to effectively integrate technology into instructional delivery.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with internal (staff, management, personnel) and external contacts (clients and vendors).
- Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills to work/improve processes and/or systems.
- Ability to work independently, as part of a team and/or with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize work and adapt to changing priorities.
Required Education & Experience:
1. Associate's degree in related field (or) willing to hire the right candidate with contingency upon completing an Associates degree within one (1) year from hire date.
2. Twenty-four months (4,000 hours) of experience as a licensed emergency medical services (EMS) provider at the level of a Paramedic, of which 2,000 hours shall be within the previous five years. One year (2,000 hours) of related occupation experience may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within the last five years.
3. Current National Registry Paramedic (NRP) Certification or licensure as a paramedic prior to 2013.
4. Experience providing care to patients as part of a 911 emergency response system.
5. Experiences working with all parts of an EMS system (hospitals, government leaders, EMS stakeholders, fire department administration, etc.)
6. State of WI license at or above the level of a Paramedic.
7. State of WI DHS EMS Instructor II license preferred; or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
8. American Heart Association BLS, ACLS, and PALS instructor preferred; or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
Supplemental Information
- There are 2 vacancies available. This full-time instructor position will teach on a flexible year-round calendar, approximately 1410 hours. Teaching assignments include variable hours, including days, evenings, and/or weekends. This position teaches in the accredited paramedic program.
