Job Summary:
The Indian Hills Community College Athletics Director reports to the President of Indian Hills Community College and serves as a member of the Colleges Leadership Team. This person will be responsible for leading all aspects of the Indian Hills Athletic Department. The Athletics Director will provide quality leadership, mentorship, and support to coaches, student-athletes, and athletic personnel across the colleges 19 intercollegiate athletic programs. This person must possess the ability to understand and execute critical components of the role that include student eligibility, fundraising, oversight of personnel, event management, and budgeting. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience at the two-year level of college athletics.

Minimum Job Requirements:


  • Bachelors degree required. Masters degree preferred.
  • Positive and successful experience in administration of intercollegiate and/or high school athletics preferred.
  • Experience with eligibility, fundraising, oversight of personnel, event management, and budgeting.
  • Must relate well with community college students and be capable of supervising college age students and enforcing college policies.
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills and capable of supervising and working in a compatible manner with other staff.
  • Management and organization skills are essential.
  • Ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and perform with a high level of professional integrity and ethics.
  • Possess the ability to execute in a superior fashion with the criteria established under the category “work performed”.

Work Performed:

  • Serve as Athletic Director and is responsible to understand, support, and carry out the College mission, vision, and values and comply with mandates and regulations of government and accrediting bodies. Ensures compliance with Title IX regulations.
  • Provides leadership for fundraising associated with the athletics department. Coordinates fundraising goals and initiatives and sponsorships with IHCC Advancement including the annual athletic golf tournament.
  • Annual planning for scholarship allocation with IHCC Foundation.
  • Markets athletics program and events internally and externally in conjunction with IHCC marketing department.
  • Develops, initiates, and monitors plans, policies, procedures, and programs compliant with the College, state and federal law, Iowa Community College Athletic Conference (ICCAC), and National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). Regular attendance at
  • meetings scheduled by the ICCAC.
  • Provides leadership in developing plans for facility improvements to meet the needs of the athletic programs.
  • Establish and maintain open and ongoing communication with all athletic department personnel regarding:
    1. Season schedules
    2. Travel itineraries
    3. Student-athlete eligibility
    4. Student-athlete academic performance
    5. Student-athlete conduct
    6. Recruiting
    7. Budgeting
    8. Event day preparation
    9. Year-end athletics awards banquet
  • Supervise all aspects of operation of all indoor and outdoor athletic facilities on all IHCC campuses including enforcing building use eligibility, building policies, and continued maintenance of the facilities.
  • Coordinate athletic facility maintenance (short and long-term planning) with IHCC maintenance department and vendors.
  • Ensure all student-athlete sports medicine documentation is received and filed prior to the start of the athletic year.
  • Prepare and submit annual equity in athletics reports.
  • Work with President and CFO to develop and work within annual budgets.
  • Lead hiring committees for athletic department staff.
  • Promote high standards of ethics, sportsmanship, academic success, and personal conduct for all athletic department personnel and student-athletes.
  • Provide guidelines and professional development opportunities to all athletic department personnel enhancing their abilities to serve student-athletes and to be successful.
  • Supervise and formally evaluate staff.
  • Establish and maintain protocol and supervise organization of team travel.
  • Assist Associate Athletics Director with planning and organizing ticket sales, marketing, and communications for home athletic events.
  • Provide leadership and development of Assistant/Associate Athletic Director(s).
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance at work. Accept and perform duties which may require work to be performed other than normal business hours.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Employment Length:
4 Term, Full Time, Benefits

Schedule:
9 hrs/day, Monday through Thursday

Salary Range:
$92,000.00 - 98,000.00
