Overview

The Santa Cruz County Provisional Community College District (SCCPCCD), located in Nogales, AZ, is seeking a dynamic, community-engaged Strategic Liaison to the Governing Board. This individual will play a pivotal role in fostering strong relationships with federal, state, and local governments; major employers and major planning organizations; K-12 districts and post-secondary education organizations; civic organizations; and other regional stakeholders to advance the SCCPCCDs mission and implementation of its new 5-year strategic plan. This role presents a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on higher education in Santa Cruz County and contribute to the growth and success of the SCCPCCD. The Strategic Liaisons Key Responsibilities Include:

Community Relations and Partnerships:

  • Serve as a visible and respected representative of the Governing Board of the SCCPCCD.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with local government officials; major employers and major regional planning organizations; K-12 districts and post-secondary education organizations; and civic organizations to promote collaboration and support for the center's initiatives in service to the higher educational needs of the countys families and employers.
  • Engage with partners to address the higher educational needs of those living and working in the US-Mexico border communities to support the employee needs in local and regional commerce.
  • Establish and maintain lists of agencies and personnel representing partner organizations.

Government Relations:

  • Serve as a liaison between the Governing Board of SCCPCCD and government agencies at the federal, state, and levels, advocating for policies and resources that benefit the institution and its students.
  • Monitor local, regional, and state developments that may impact the SCCPCCD and provide timely updates to leadership.

Strategic Plan Implementation:

  • Lead and provide for organizational accountability in the implementation of the comprehensive strategic plan, ensuring alignment with the district's mission, vision, values, and goals.
  • Work with the Governing Board to finalize the action items and timeline for Strategic Plan implementation.
  • Establish metrics and tracking mechanisms to monitor progress and evaluate the effectiveness of the strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and manage a special segment of the budget allocated to execute strategic initiatives, including additional contracts for human resources as needed.
  • Oversee the recruitment, training, and support of additional human resources necessary to execute strategic initiatives effectively.

Marketing and Communications:

  • Develop and support the implementation of marketing and communication strategies to enhance the SCCPCCD's visibility and reputation within the community.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote the district's programs, services, and accomplishments.

Foundation Relationships and Capacity Building:

  • Strengthen the SCCPCCD's relationship with its foundation, leveraging resources and support to enhance institutional capacity and student success.
  • Cultivate relationships with other foundations and philanthropic organizations to support the SCCPCCD's mission and programs.
  • Identify grant opportunities and support the development of proposals to secure funding for strategic initiatives and special projects.

Educational Programs and Accreditation:

  • Work to become independent.
  • Coordinate efforts related to Joint Technical Education District (JTED) partnerships and accreditation processes to ensure compliance and quality assurance.
  • Work with other post-secondary educational opportunities, including Workforce Development (WIOA) to expand programs and services.

Desired Qualifications

  • Demonstrated experience and connections within federal, state, and local government, major employer sectors, and/or civic organizations within Santa Cruz County.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of higher education and accreditation in Arizona.
  • Strategic planning and project management expertise.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Bachelors Degree or higher and four years of experience in executive leadership and management.
  • Residency in Santa Cruz County.

Other Details

Reporting: This position reports directly to the Governing Board of the Santa Cruz County Provisional Community College District.

Schedule and Hours: Full-time, flexible. Evening and weekend hours required as necessary.

Salary: This is an annual contract position. Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Anticipated Start Date: August 15, 2024

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $90,000.00 - $140,000.00 per year
