In support of the overall Learning College, The Career and College Promise/Polk County Early College Liaison will provide guidance to students and high school personnel in Polk and Rutherford Counties who are involved with Career and College Promise and Polk County Early College (PCEC) Responsibilities Polk County Early College (PCEC) Responsibilities

  • Liaison

a. Serve as liaison to facilitate the integration of PCEC students into the academic and
student life environment of the College
b. Develop and maintain an understanding of state Cooperative Innovative High School
(CIHS) policies and procedures to ensure state compliance
c. Serve as the primary communication link between PCEC staff to ensure College services
for high school students are delivered to support student success
d. Make recommendations regarding college policies and procedures that affect PCEC
e. Inform College administration of student discipline issues that affect College course
attendance and activities
f. Attend PCEC student support meetings and other school-related functions, as needed.

  • Recruitment and Outreach

a. Assist with PCEC college and university visits, etc.
b. Assist with PCEC recruitment and enrollment efforts

  • Advising and Registration

a. Serve as advisor and provide registration and enrollment services for PCEC students
b. Provide college academic planning in coordination with students and PCEC staff that is in
alignment with state policy.
c. Maintain accurate and adequate student records to assist in college advising and
registration of PCEC students
d. Coordinate with PCEC staff to plan/schedule College classes

  • Support Services

a. Coordinate support systems to assist student success
b. Maintain grade report documents and follow up with academically at-risk students
c. Assist in bridging the communication gap between students and instructors.
d. Facilitate coordination between the Colleges Counselor and Student Advocacy
Coordinator and PCEC students
e. Advise PCEC personnel regarding textbooks and required materials
f. Coordinate activities for PCEC freshmen to provide resources to develop college
readiness skills and communicate expectations
g. Monitor student progress in college classes and coordinate with students, PCEC
personnel, and College instructors to develop plans for success
h. Collect and review data to assist in continuous improvement of services to early college
students
i. Provide Isothermal data to PCEC required for state reporting
j. In cooperation with PCEC personnel, update the PCEC handbook to reflect collective
policies for PCEC students
k. Participate in webinars and meetings for Cooperative Innovative High Schools as needed

  • Other duties as assigned by Isothermal Community College

Career and College Promise (CCP) Responsibilites

1. Advising and Registration
a. Serve as CCP advisor and provide registration and enrollment services for high school
students
b. In coordination with College staff, maintain accurate and adequate student records to assist
in advising and registration of high school students
c. Provide information for students and families regarding CCP opportunities
d. Collaborate with high school personnel to determine eligibility for students who would like
to enroll in a CCP program
e. Assist in bridging the communication gap between students and instructors.
f. Advise high school personnel regarding textbooks and required materials
2. Student Records and Assessment
a. Assist College staff in maintaining accurate records of student enrollment in CCP programs
b. Provide grade reports to high school personnel weekly and other reports as requested.
3.Curriculum Development and Coordinationa. Assist with cooperative planning efforts to align secondary and post secondary expectations
b. Assist College staff with curriculum planning and scheduling between secondary and post secondary subject areas to reduce duplication of courses and to maximize opportunities for successful completion of dual enrollment credit courses
4. Policy Development and Coordination
a. Work cooperatively to develop a handbook that reflects collective policies for CCP students
b. Assist in communicating policy information to students, parents, high school, and college
personnel
c. Participate in CCP webinars and meetings
5. Recruitment and Outreach
a. Support outreach efforts involving high school students that raise awareness of opportunities at
the College
6. Other duties as assigned by Isothermal Community College
a. Serve on college committees as needed

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree, required
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships within an education setting; plan, organize, and implement programs and services; and provide tracking and assessment to ensure quality, required
  • Commitment to the learning-centered environment, required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters degree, preferred
  • Experience in secondary and/or post secondary education, preferred
  • Working knowledge of Datatel/Colleague, preferred
  • Knowledge and practical application of student/career development theory, preferred
  • Knowledgeable in all aspects of student experience to include coaching, mentoring, advising, student/career services, and progression, preferred

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $41,635.00 per year
