About the Role
Join us as the Stephen Knight Lecturer in Medieval Literature, a position made possible by a generous donation from the Pimlico Foundation, honouring Professorial Fellow Stephen Knights remarkable contributions to teaching, research, and public engagement in medieval and modern literary studies. This role aims to build on the Universitys distinguished record of innovation and excellence in medieval literature.
As a Lecturer, you will undertake teaching and supervision at undergraduate, honours, and postgraduate levels, making an important contribution to the teaching excellence within the Faculty of Arts.
Your research efforts will aim to produce high-quality publications and other scholarly outputs, carried out independently or as part of a collaborative team.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Subject coordination, including the supervision of sessional tutors (administrative and academic)
- Curriculum design and innovation, including cross-disciplinary approaches
- Design and delivery of overseas subjects and other student mobility programs
- Apply for teaching and learning innovation grants (with emphasis on national competitive and peer reviewed)
- Scholarly outputs, including peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, books, creative works, and editing.
- Apply for research grants and external research income (emphasis on competitive, international and peer-reviewed)
Who We Are Looking For
You are a dedicated educator with a completed PhD in a relevant discipline, possessing a strong research record and an emerging publication profile in late medieval English language and literature.
Your experience teaching at the tertiary level reflects your commitment to fostering an inclusive student learning environment and your capability in supervising honours theses and postgraduate research degrees. You demonstrate excellence in multidisciplinary and collaborative research, with a proven ability to attract research grants and consultancies.
We highly value candidates with specialisations that complement and extend our current expertise. Areas of interest include early medieval or early modern literature in English, the global Middle Ages, pre-modern critical race studies, book history/material culture, or medievalism and contemporary culture.
