Work Schedule:
Flexible scheduling to be coordinated with high school teacher(s). Most duties can be completed electronically. Work will involve up to 23 hours per semester per course section. More hours may be added if the candidate chooses to serve as a liaison for additional course sections and/or instructors.
Rate of Pay:
Cultivate relationship with high school instructor: $200 per HS instructor supported, per course.
Conduct site visit and/or alternative course alignment activity (as approved by Dean or designee) and complete report: $52/hour not to exceed 5 hours per course visited, per site unless approval has been received by the Dean of College Transitions & Secondary Partnerships or designee.
Prepare required reports: $200 per course.
Develop course-specific training materials for new instructors: $52/hour not to exceed 50 hrs.
Lead course-specific training for new instructors: $52/hour not to exceed 16 hrs.
Develop and lead annual discipline-specific professional development: $52/hour not to exceed 16 hrs

Job Summary:
An employee in this position collaborates with qualified high school instructors who are teaching Elgin Community College courses. The faculty liaison works with the instructor to ensure understanding and practice of college course objectives, outcomes, content and assessment expectations.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Knowledge in the operation and repair of the automotive engine. Skill in all areas of engine service, including engine disassembly, inspection, measurement, and reassembly. Knowledge of machining practices common to the automotive engine, including cylinder head valve guide and seat service, piston and cylinder service, crack detection, and cleaning practices.
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Associate degree in related subject with 4,000 hours documented work experience or, Bachelors degree in related subject with 2,000 documented work experience.
Additional tested experience in the industry, e.g. 3-5 years of work experience, may be considered in lieu of academic credentials.
Essential Duties:
- Develop and maintain course-specific dual credit materials.
- Cultivate a collaborative relationship with each high school instructor, including:
- Monthly outreach to high school instructor
- Provide timely support to address academically-oriented questions/concerns
- Collaborate with HS instructor to complete one site visit or course alignment activity per course.
- Review course documentation, provide feedback to HS instructor (i.e. syllabi and student artifacts)
- Coordinate high school instructors participation in course assessment projects, including submission of student artifacts/data and dialogue about student work.
- Develop and lead initial course-specific training for each new dual credit HS instructor prior to their teaching the colleges course to ensure the dual credit course mirrors campus sections.
- Develop and lead annual discipline-specific D509 professional development meetings for returning HS instructors teaching the course.
- Prepare and submit required reports as needed to meet institutional, NACEP accreditation, and partnership agreement requirements.
