Position Summary
Reporting to the Program Officer, the Budget and Compliance Officer is
responsible for overseeing the financial and regulatory aspects of the Flourishing
in Community Grantmaker Initiative. This position ensures the accurate and
ethical management of subgrant contracts, the dissemination of funds to
subgrant recipients, and the adherence to all applicable regulations and
guidelines.
This role is critical in maintaining the initiatives credibility and effectiveness in
advancing environmental and climate justice. This role collaborates closely with
Fordhams Office of Finance and Office of Sponsored Programs. This is a three-
year grant-funding opportunity.
About the Flourishing in Community Grantmaker
The Flourishing in Community (FIC) Grantmaker Initiative, serving as the EPA
Region 2 Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaker program,
proposes an intersectional approach to place frontline communities in positions of
power to advance environmental justice and climate justice in disadvantaged and
hard-to-reach communities and communities
disproportionately impacted by climate change, pollution, and other
environmental stressors in New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin
Islands.
The program leadership team will employ Fordham Universitys infrastructure to
provide grants to community-based organizations and other qualifying
organizations, institutions, and agencies, prioritizing rural, remote, coastal, and
urban communities, low-income communities, communities of color, and other
communities and groups which historically have not had the capacity to apply for
or receive federal funding for projects in this area. The FIC employs a
participatory community-led governance structure and provides wraparound
services including mentorship, research assistance, technical assistance,
program management, and program evaluation to subgrant recipients and
advances project sustainability post-award.
Essential Functions
∙Manages and organizes the Co-PI and Program Officers calendars,
including scheduling meetings, coordinating logistics for program events,
and ensuring efficient time management.
∙Handles correspondence, prepares reports, and maintains comprehensive
and organized files.
∙Arranges logistics for team meetings and other program-related events,
including venue booking, participant coordination, and material
preparation.
∙Takes detailed minutes during meetings and distributes summaries to
relevant stakeholders to ensure effective communication and follow-up on
action items.
∙Assists in coordinating the subgrant funding process, including application
tracking, documentation, and liaison with applicants and recipients.
∙Supports the monitoring of subgrant projects by compiling reports,
updates, and outcomes for review by the Program Officer.
∙Assists with the management of the initiatives internal budget, tracking
expenditures, processing payments, and preparing financial reports.
∙Ensures timely and accurate handling of invoices and receipts related to
program activities and events.
∙Supports the creation and dissemination of communication materials and
manages content updates for the website and social media platforms.
∙Helps organize and execute outreach strategies to engage potential
subgrant applicants and community partners.
∙Assists with ensuring program and project compliance with all relevant
regulations and guidelines, maintaining accurate records for audits and
reviews.
∙Contributes to the continuous assessment and evaluation of the program
by gathering feedback and data for analysis.

Required Qualifications: Education and Experience
∙High school diploma or equivalent
∙Minimum of 2 years of experience in operations or administration in higher
education, nonprofit or policy setting, experience working across a matrix
Required Qualifications: Knowledge and Skills
∙Experience with software project management and tracking systems
∙Successful candidates should have a knowledge of and commitment to
the goals of Jesuit Education.
Preferred Qualifications
∙AA or BA preferred
∙Fluency or proficiency in a second commonly spoken language in New
York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico and/or US Virgin Islands preferred
Minimum Starting Salary: $65,000
Maximum Starting Salary: $65,000
Note: Salary is commensurate with qualifications, experience, and skills.
