ANTICIPATED START DATE: August 1, 2024, or as soon as possible.

SALARY RANGE: $75,000 - $80,000 commensurate with education and experience


 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

Greenfield Community College is seeking an enthusiastic individual to join our team as the Assistant Director of Grants. This role offers a unique opportunity to lead the development of grant proposals, utilizing research skills to identify diverse funding sources that align with the institution's strategic priorities.

The Assistant Director of Grants will collaborate closely with departmental teams, grant program stakeholders, and senior leadership to ensure the successful execution of grant-funded projects. Reporting to the Executive Director of Grants and Government Relations, the chosen candidate will have the chance to shape policy and refine procedures within the Grants Office, influencing the future of grant development and management.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manages and leads internal and external stakeholders in the planning and preparation of grant applications, including the development of project objectives, action plans, performance indicators, and evaluation plans;
  • Interprets grantor priorities, history, and application requirements grant funding opportunities,
  • Provides comprehensive proposal preparation services, including research, editing, writing, and proofreading, for approved grant applications;
  • Prepares draft and final grant applications for review, development, and submission with relevant College stakeholders;
  • Interprets reviewers' comments on proposals not selected for funding and revises proposals accordingly;
  • Develops proposal and institutional match budgets in collaboration with Business Office personnel for new and continuing grants;
  • Serves as primary liaison to funding agency in the development of grant proposals assigned;
  • Leads grant project post-award launch meetings with new grant coordinators to transition grant from development/award phase to implementation phase, providing post-award check-ins and mentoring support;
  • Facilitates all post-award contract/project implementation of funded grants between grant coordinators and GCC Business Office, and serves as liaison between campus grant coordinators and funding agency personnel;
  • Provides expertise on grant compliance and interpretation of OMB Super Circulars and all applicable regulations, policies and procedures for state, federal, and private funders;
  • Establishes and maintains department policies, practices and procedures for grant development and grant management;
  • Makes managerial determinations through access and utilization of confidential information in the development of grant policies, proposals and the administration of awarded grants, accessing information that directly impacts funding decisions affecting collectively bargained positions.
  • Identifies, researches, and analyzes potential public and private funding sources and disseminates information to stakeholders on campus;
  • Assists in assessing College and community need through focus group sessions, surveys, and interviews, making recommendations on projects to pursue;
  • Collaborates with the Executive Director of Grants and Government Relations to establish priorities with the development and updating of the Grants Office Strategic Plan;
  • Collaborates with Business Office personnel to establish and/or regularly update financial and personnel workflows for grant-funded projects articulated in the online Grants Manual;
  • Attends and provides strategic analysis of technical assistance workshops, bidders conferences, and targeted meetings for prospective grant projects;
  • Spearheads the development and implementation of grant development and grant management process workshops and training for college faculty and staff.

 

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Represents division on various ad hoc and standing committees as appropriate;
  • Performs miscellaneous tasks (i.e. - compiles/collates information; maintains accurate records and files for all grants pre- and post-award activity; proofreads written materials; drops off or picks up materials to/from other agencies);
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

OPTION TO TELEWORK:

This role is eligible to be conducted in a hybrid arrangement of both required on-site attendance and remote work, per the state's telework policy.


Job Requirements:


MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE*:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Communications, Non-Profit Management, Journalism, Public Relations, Business Administration, or other applicable field;
  • At least three (3) years of experience with grant development in which the applicant was the primary author of significant proposals to a variety of funders;
  • At least three (3) years of demonstrated experience with grant administration and/or compliance;
  • Experience with drafting and managing budgets;
  • Experience with facilitating project design teams;
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master's degree or higher in English, Communications, Non-Profit Management, Journalism, Public Relations, Business Administration, or other applicable field;
  • Five (5) years or more experience of grant proposal development experience in which the applicant was the primary author of significant proposals to a variety of funders;
  • Five (5) years or more demonstrated experience with grant administration and/or compliance;
  • Experience in higher education, particularly community colleges.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Occasional travel to and from events, meetings, etc.
  • Normal office environment, not subject to extreme variations of temperature, noise, odors, etc.
  • May use computer keyboards requiring eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. Balancing, crouching, grasping, pulling, reaching and stooping may also be required.
