Associate Director of Business and Industry for Manufacturing
Job Description
- Represent Hutchinson Community College with Regional manufacturers.
- Kansas Manufacturing Solutions(KMS) partners with HutchCC to provide training, consulting and support to manufacturers in South Central Kansas, this role serves as regional director for KMS.
- Contact potential manufacturing clients, as well as leads identified by current customers, partners, or other resources.
- Meet with potential clients to determine their need for services. Troubleshoot and evaluate client business practices and identify assistance required. Inform potential clients about HutchCC and KMS services and programs and develop solutions to be delivered by internal or external resources.
- Prepares proposals with assistance from the Director of B&I and KMS project managers.
- Establishes rapport and maintains contact with contracted clients and potential clients.
- Reports on sales activity through use of Salesforce and other sales management tools. This includes but is not limited to;
- Logging calls, meetings and email contact with current and potential clients
- Managing pipeline of clients and potential clients, accurately labeling the status and changing the status as they move through the pipeline and/or are won/lost
- Timely and accurate entry of all project related documents into Salesforce
- Prepare accurate and complete client proposals, agreements and other account and project related documents.
- Prepare a variety of status reporting, including sales activity, closings, follow-up and adherence to goals.
- Report on special developments, information or feedback gathered through field activity.
- Engage in manufacturing events, associations, community and regional relationships within defined territory.
- Comply with HutchCC and KMS policies, procedures and practices.
- Ongoing HutchCC and KMS account management activity with regular touch points.
- Work in concert with project manager to get status updates on project, communicate progress with client and explore any additional opportunities and set project close meetings with client.
- Achieve specific assigned sales goals for each Fiscal Year.
- Actively participate in program advisory committees as assigned.
- Work with area manufacturers to arrange for volunteers from industry to speak to groups of students.
- Attend required college meetings and professional development activities.
- Work effectively as a professional within a team setting.
- Pursue professional development through pertinent classes, workshops, or seminars.
- Attend MEP National Conference and KMS partnership meetings.
- Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.
Secondary –
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of the Business and Industry Institute.

- Work experience in manufacturing or the trades preferred.
- Associates Degree in related field, Bachelors Degree preferred.
- Valid Kansas drivers license.
- Physical requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds, walking, bending, stooping, carrying, etc.; excellent verbal, written, and listen communication skills; excellent organizational skills; ability and willingness to collaborate; ability to work independently; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; moderate, indoor work environment.
