Title: Director of Marketing, Communications, and Media Services

Institution: Volunteer State Community College

Job Summary:

To develop and manage the marketing and public relations program that promotes the college and its programs and services within the college and within the colleges service area. Facilitates communication to the internal campus community.

Job Duties:

Develops and manages a long-range and annual marketing and public relations strategy that promotes the Colleges programs and services, and supports the Colleges enrollment management strategies, as well as the Colleges fundraising activities. Consults and advises the President, as well as other campus leaders, on critical public relations matters. Manages and monitors crisis communications and develops a proactive crisis response strategy. Develops and maintains effective community and internal relationships. Develops and manages a marketing strategy that supports enrollment management and institutional image enhancement. Coordinates all advertising and media purchases. Manages communication channels and develops new methods of communicating with internal and external constituents. Serves as point of contact for inquiries and information requests from media and the public. Supervises media relations efforts to maintain a positive image for the institution. Supervises the online presence of the College, including the website and social networks, and develops strategies for emerging technologies. Coordinates design, development, and production of promotional and informational publications including catalog, course schedules, program/service brochures, annual report, etc. Oversees and manages marketing and public relations events for the College, as well as special events. Works with administrative and academic offices to promote new or special courses, programs, services, and events. Oversees and manages the Colleges brand standards. Ensures that college print and promotional materials meet Tennessee Higher Education Commission and Tennessee Board of Regents policy and guidelines and are in keeping with institutional image standards. Develops and manages the Marketing, Communications, and Media Services budget. Serves on college committees. Actively participates as a member of the Presidents Cabinet. Participates in other college activities as assigned. Meets regularly with local civic groups and develops relationships with community and civic leaders. Serves as the Chief Marketing Officer of the college as noted in TBR policy. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors Degree.
Seven years of related experience.
Minimum of two years of supervisor responsibilities in a management role.


Preferred Qualifications:

Master's Degree in public relations, journalism, mass communications, or marketing.
Three to five years of proven experience in higher education public relations or a closely related field.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

Pay Rate: $75,057 - $93,821 annual salary depending on experience
