Position: Part-Time Early College Adjunct Criminal Justice Faculty Member (Grant-Funded)

Semester: Academic Year Fall 2024-Spring 2025

Salary: Step 1 per the DCE Collective Bargaining Agreement

Funding Source: Grant Funded - Early College Grant FY25

Expected Duration: 9/4/2024 - 5/31/2025

 

Roxbury Community College seeks a dynamic and experienced part-time adjunct Criminal Justice faculty member to teach college-level courses with dual enrollment high school students and Early College high school students in grades 9 through 12. The successful candidate will have prior experience working with high school students in a public school system, along with a master's degree in the criminal justice field.

  • The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for teaching on campus and on site at high schools, and must demonstrate an understanding of high school protocols, including being a mandated reporter, using a seating chart, and implementing effective classroom management techniques.
  • Teach college-level Criminal Justice courses to dual enrollment high school students and Early College high school students.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with college and high school curriculum standards.
  • Create a supportive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student success.
  • Utilize varied instructional methods and technologies to enhance student learning experiences.
  • Adhere to high school protocols, including mandated reporting, seating chart management, and classroom discipline procedures.
  • Collaborate with high school and college faculty and staff to ensure seamless integration of dual enrollment programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and progress. Participate in faculty meetings, professional development activities, and curriculum development initiatives as required.

Job Requirements:


Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in criminal justice or a closely related field;
  • Prior experience teaching criminal justice to high school students in a public school system.
  • Additional experience teaching all college levels of criminal justice courses with dual enrollment high school students and Early College high school students.
  • Familiarity with high school protocols, including mandated reporting, seating chart management, and classroom discipline procedures.
  • Ability to teach on campus and on site at high schools.
  • Proficiency in Google Suite and Office 365, as well as experience with learning management systems such as Canvas or similar platforms.
  • Availability for the Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 semesters.
  • Three letters of recommendation, official college transcripts, and language proficiency demonstration required.
