Reporting to the Director for Community Standards, the Associate Director will assist with the operations of the Office of Community Standards. This includes assisting with the conduct management database maintenance, informal conduct proceedings, Behavioral Review Team admissions documentation, assisting with developing, implementing, and coordinating educational and campus outreach programs and will assist with carrying out the goals and objectives of the Red Flag Campaign, campus violence prevention efforts, training, and education. This position will also work closely with the NWACC Title IX Coordinator and Director for Community Standards in the development of strategic plans, goals and measurable objectives for Title IX initiatives, violence prevention programs, and education and outreach for the College. The Associate Director will serve as a backup advocate providing victim-centered confidential advocacy to student and employee victims, survivors, and complainants of interpersonal violence. Provides services that are equitable, inclusive and provide culturally sensitive services that enhance the quality of campus life. This position uses a student centered and equity minded approach in all communication and service efforts.
 
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work in close collaboration with and under the Director for Community Standards and in close collaboration with Title IX Coordinator:
  • Assists Title IX Team and/or Director of Community Standards with Title IX Complainant intake; conduct triage and appropriate assignment of cases.
  • Assists Director to prepare and coordinate official communications for notifications to parties involved in student conduct and Title IX cases.
  • Assists Director and Title IX Coordinator in communications with student conduct and Title IX parties while protecting the independence, neutrality, integrity, and privacy of the investigation. Includes communicating rights, responsibilities, policies and procedures and other communications as needed.
  • Assists with development of training for faculty, staff, students, Title IX investigators, adjudicators, and those involved with processing Title IX complaints.
  • Works with Director of Compliance and Title IX Coordinator to monitor compliance with Title IX training requirements and follows up with individuals to assist in bringing them into compliance. This may include training for employees and students.
  • Assists with facilitating prevention and response training programs to individuals, faculty, staff, students, and the community.
  • Works under the Director of Community Standards in partnership with the Title IX Coordinator and NWACCs Title IX Team to ensure the College's Title IX-related procedures, training, and guidance complies with federal and state regulations, guidance, and best practices
  • Works with the Director of Community Standards to manage and coordinate student-driven institution-wide events or educational programs (e.g., Sexual assault Awareness Month, Relationship Violence Awareness Month, NO More, etc.) under the Colleges Red Flag Campaign. May provide technical support or training to student organizations that participate in the planning of these activities.
  • Participates in College and community committees and task forces as needed. *
  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to develop comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to violence prevention for students.
  • Assists with development and implementation of campus-wide initiatives that address sexual assault, dating/interpersonal violence, stalking, and hazing including workshops, training, awareness month events, and coordinated community response team.
  • Provide confidential victim advocacy services to students, faculty, and staff survivors of sexual assault, dating/ domestic violence, stalking, and sexual harassment on a walk-in basis and by appointment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Serve as a hearing officer for violations of College policy
  • Serve as a member of the Behavioral Review Team and as a member of the Conduct Review Board
  • Organize and run the Behavioral Review Teams weekly meetings when the Director of Community Standards is unavailable
 
Salary $46,150.00 annually
 
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
 
Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively handle a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those of a sensitive nature internally and externally. Must be able to interact in a positive, professional, and respectful manner with campus community, including staff, faculty, students, stakeholders, advocates, and advisors. Must have excellent and demonstrable interpersonal skills to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships & communicate clearly & effectively with vendors, students, employees, peers, administrators, campus personnel, clients, state officials, and the public. Experience with public speaking, developing presentations, trainings, and ability to lead the audience. Experience working with survivors. Ability to handle confidential matters with tact and diplomacy, and to maintain confidentiality of information as needed or to protect the rights of individuals or the College. Ability to work some evenings as needed for campus-wide events or activities germane to the position. Ability to lift boxes and or items weighing 25 lbs. to move event materials etc. to various locations.

Education and Experience
 
Minimum requirements
 
Bachelor's degree in counseling, higher education, student personnel, public administration, human relations, or related fields.
 
At least three (3) years of relevant professional experience which must include 1) experience working in student conduct, 2) developing and presenting educational program, and 3) training in a higher education setting (such as student conduct, Title IX, Student Affairs). Working knowledge of relevant state and federal laws including Title IX, Clery, VAWA, and Campus SaVE, as well as higher education issues, trends and initiatives.
 
Preferred Qualifications
 
Masters degree in counseling, higher education, student personnel, public administration, human relations, or related field.
 
Experience processing student conduct cases. Experience in interpersonal violence outreach and education. Experience with trauma-informed interview/investigation techniques.
