Description

ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL AID reports directly to the Director of Financial Aid and at their direction is an integral part of the recruitment and retention efforts. The Assistant Director will be responsible for assisting in the overall administration of aid programs and the management of the Office of Financial Aid at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology.

Examples of Duties

Essential Functions 

  • Responsible for assisting the Director with the overall administration of aid programs and the management of the Office of Financial Aid.
  • Assist with timely delivery of financial aid to students and compliance with Federal Title IV regulations. 
  • Review, update, and monitor PA State Grant and special program awards.
  • Process Return to Title IV calculations. 
  • Counsel students and families on all aspects of the financial aid process. 
  • Assist with Satisfactory Academic Progress review and monitoring. 
  • Comprehensive knowledge and ability to process Federal verifications for students financial aid.
  • Assist with the College's default management plan.
  • Maintains awareness of the latest developments in financial aid, including federal and state regulations and new technology, through publications, professional organizations and continuing education programs. 
  • Participates in financial aid workshops and admissions events for prospective and admitted students. 
  • Assist with daily correspondence to students via telephone & email.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Financial Aid.

 

Typical Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree preferred with a minimum of two years of relevant experience. In lieu of Bachelor's degree, Associate's Degree with a minimum of two years of relevant experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentially.
  • Computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel and Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices.
