Work Schedule: 4 day work-week, 8pm-6am

Graveyard shift rate is an additional $2 per hour

Job Summary:
The purpose of this position is to ensure the safety and security of North Idaho College students, faculty, staff and the visiting public as well as property by patrolling assigned areas on foot or in a vehicle. Although the individual serving in this role is not a sworn police officer and does not carry a firearm, he/she will be certified to carry the Taser CEW (Conducted Electrical Weapon) and adhere to the North Idaho College use of force agreement.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience:  High School diploma or GED is required. Two years of full-time, or four years of part-time experience in law enforcement, military service or security required. Must be able to successfully pass a background and fingerprint check and have no felony convictions.

Required License and/or Certifications:
Must possess a valid drivers license. Taser CEW training and certification required within six months of employment. Training and certification in first aid, CPR/AED, fire and emergency response procedures, or the ability to attain certification within six months of employment is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Excellent conflict management skills
• Ability to effectively communicate with and handle people in crisis and those under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol
• Knowledge of Idaho laws, criminal codes and NIC policies and procedures
• Proficient written and verbal skills
• Basic skills in operating computer, including Microsoft Office and incident reporting software
• Ability to read, write and speak in English
• Ability to operate electronic parking citation equipment
