Advisor, Dual Credit Pathways
Job Description
Job Summary
Partners with high school students, faculty, staff, Instructional Services, high school administrators, and the community in a proactive process which facilitates the development of intentional educational and career plans to help dual credit students achieve academic, personal, and professional goals. Responsible for informing prospective, new, and returning dual credit students of educational opportunities and requirements. Provides a high level of customer service support to their caseload of assigned dual credit students and assists as needed with dual credit registration, advising, orientation, and completion programs and initiatives. Works closely with College Student Services Pathways and Case Management Advisors to ensure a seamless transition for dual credit students. Plays a critical role in the implementation of relevant Dual Credit activities to increase dual credit completion rates and successful transition to either a college/university, or the workforce.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
In collaboration with dual credit students, identify the appropriate educational and career options, assist with the analysis of each option, including possible outcomes and their implications, establishes academic and career goals, and establish an action plan for students to explore alternative careers and related program adjacency.
Utilize available and appropriate technology to monitor academic progress of dual credit students toward degree and/or certificate completion, identify current and potential academic needs, document ongoing case management activities, and document all pertinent student information and status updates.
Teach dual credit students the skills to self-navigate to degree completion utilizing campus information, student on-line system, and campus resources.
Assist dual credit students in the acquisition, usage and evaluation of information including College guidelines, catalogs, and on-line resources.
Monitor caseloads to ensure that dual credit students are making adequate progress towards completion of chosen certificate or degree and use available technology tools to send caseload messages regarding milestone attainment.
Respond in a timely fashion to proactive “early alerts” or other student progress alert and support systems or processes of assigned dual credit students. Provide information and referrals to students needing services such as: tutoring, testing, career entry, counseling, post-high school financial aid, disability services, etc.
Provide information regarding student life opportunities to include student activities and recreational sports. Inform students of the benefits (i.e., leadership skills, team building, and civic engagement).
Provide information regarding the promotion of special programs and opportunities such as learning communities, bridge courses, honors programs, service learning, etc.
Inform dual credit students of procedures such as withdrawal, repeating coursework, advanced standing credit, graduation, etc.
Provide transfer planning to universities to include joint admissions programs, articulation agreements, common course numbering system, and transfer plans.
Complete appropriate prescribed training and demonstrate proficiency in application and utilization of training.
Perform other duties, tasks and assignments as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
• Bachelors degree required
• Masters degree in a related field preferred
• 2 years related work experience in post-secondary institution required
• Experience in advising both high school and traditional-aged students in a higher education setting preferred
Licensing & Certification
• Valid Texas Driver License

Working Conditions
General Office. Must be able to perform all job requirements with or without reasonable accommodations; remain in a stationary position during shift; move items weighing up to 25 pounds; position self to operate job equipment; apply established protocols in a timely manner. Must access, input and retrieve information from technology devices; communicate with others to accomplish job requirements. May be required to work after hours to include weekends and holidays.
