Job Summary

The Financial Aid Assistant is responsible for providing financial aid counseling services to current, incoming, and prospective students at the GHC Rome Campus in the One Stop Shop. This role serves as a key customer service representative for the Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid, ensuring a positive experience for students, families, and staff. The Financial Aid Assistant assists students in resolving financial aid concerns and performs necessary clerical and processing duties within the office. This position reports to the Senior Financial Aid Counselor.

 

Responsibilities

· Provide counseling and respond to inquiries from students, parents, or guardians about financial aid programs, application procedures, financial planning, and eligibility.

· Represent the financial aid office on the assigned campus and other campuses as needed.

· Assist with financial aid inquiries in person, via the GHC411 Ticketing System, and through the Virtual HUB.

· Perform related duties as assigned.

 

Required Qualifications

· Associate degree from an accredited institution and one (1) year of experience in an office setting or business-related customer service position

OR High School Diploma (or equivalent) and three (3) years¿ experience in an office setting or business-related customer service position (experience in Higher Education desired).

· Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver¿s license for the type of vehicle or equipment operated

Proposed Salary

$12.00 per hour,

up to 19 hours per week

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

· Understanding of Federal, State, and Institutional policies and procedures related to student financial aid.

· Familiarity with program eligibility requirements.

· Proficiency in technology, including MS Office Suite, videoconferencing software (MS Teams), digital records management systems, and general data information systems.

· Strong customer service skills.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· A positive and collaborative attitude, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
