The Department of Visual and Performing Arts is seeking part-time student assistants for music and sound art projects, events, publicity, and day-to-day functions.   

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interface with the Office of Student Life in coordinating, promoting, and supporting a student club for the purposes of developing and maintaining a radio show
  • Support students, faculty, and staff with recording projects including, but not limited to a radio show, podcast(s), web series, recorded and live music
  • Regular maintenance of VPA spaces, including the production studio, music classroom, theatre space and booth, and others
  • Maintain and improve upon systems for inventorying and tracking music gear and audio equipment, including maintenance  
  • Support with marketing such as: creating and designing social media posts for performing arts events and creative projects
  • Printing and copying as needed
  • Day-to-day maintenance of the Fine Arts Building classrooms including restocking, removal of outdated flyers, inventory of classroom supplies, taking note of work orders or repairs needed, etc.
  • Assist with the execution of performing arts events, including theatre productions. Examples of support may include: 
    1. Assistance with installing and testing sound equipment
    2. Operating light and/or sound boards for VPA functions
    3. Sweeping, mopping, and maintaining event spaces
    4. Greeting audiences and ushering
    5. Marketing events
  • Assist the Visual and Performing Arts Coordinator and Department Chair with additional operational duties as assigned
  • Take responsibility for timesheet, time off, tracking hours, and making adjustments in the schedule, as per work study allotment, communicating with Program Coordinator any schedule changes
  • Note: hours may vary depending on departmental needs

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to develop and implement work plans
  • Ability to work individually and independently, taking ownership of assigned tasks and completing them in a timely manner
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite and Google applications 
  • Familiarity with social media platforms
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of or experience in the audio production, editing, live mixing, and music a plus
  • Flexibility and a positive attitude
  • Willingness to ask for help and problem solve
  • Ability to stand or sit for long periods, ability to life 25 pounds

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have completed FAFSA on file
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum six (6) credit hours
  • Must NOT have yet obtained 1st Bachelor's Degree
  • Must be seeking an eligible program of study
