Laredo College continuously accepts applications for part-time (adjunct) instructors to create a pool of candidates for each session/semester. Applications will be reviewed and positions will be filled based on department needs. Applications received for this pool will remain active for one year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The Hospitality Certificate Program Adjunct Instructor is responsible for providing and delivering engaging and informative lectures and pracitical sessions to educate students on various aspects of the hospitality industry, including but not limited to customer service, food and beverage management, hotel operations, and project management, etc. Instructor will provide students with the understanding and skills necessary to function productively in the Hospitality Industry.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities- Develop course/program curriculum to address the areas vital to being successful in the hospitality industry
- Prepare tailored course documentation suh as lesson plan, courses syllabi, assignments, quizzes/exams
- Follow daily lesson plans to ensure quality, consistency, and uniformity of instruction and student conduct
- Adapt to different teaching styles to accommodate to the population and teaching modes such as face to face, virtual and hybrid
- Keep accurate attendance records and submit required continuing education class documents on a timely manner
- Provide students with information about the goals and requirements of each course, the nature of the course content and the methods of evaluation to be employed including required classroom behavior
- Measure each students progress through the use of written exams or performance assessments essential to mastery of unit objectives. Inform students of course progression and provide supplemental materials and/or instruction when necessary
- Be responsible for the efficient and safe operation, care, and appearance of assigned equipment, classroom/lab, and all other teaching materials
- Must be able to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality by following FERPA standards.
- Work a flexible schedule as determined by instructional activities and course enrollment
- Participate in training activities as needed by the department
- Perform other duties assigned by the Director of Continuing Education, Dean of Community Education, Associate Provost/Strategic & Collaborative Partnerships,VP of Instruction and/or President.

Required:- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Three years of professional experience in the hospitality industry.
- Texas Drivers License
- Associates or Bachelors Degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, or fields related to content areas.
- One year of teaching or training experience in the hospitality industry.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to teach the necessary skills for students to be successful employees in the hospitality industry
- Must be ethical when evaluating student outcomes
- Ability to maintain excellent working relationships with the program staff and participants
- Must be knowledgeable, mature, and concerned with the academic progress of participants
- Bilingual preferred
- Must demonstrate enthusiasm
- Must be a self-starter and positive role model
- Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in written form
- Ability to instruct and maintain emotional control under stress
- Knowledge of computer applciations, such as Google Docs, Microsoft Office Suite, learning management systems for course delivery and assessment.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
