Job Summary
Adult Education (AE) Facilitators lead adult education classes in Bridge and RI-BEST programs to master content area foundational skills and pre-college mathematics. AE Facilitators scaffold students to become independent learners and to transition from tutorial support as they enter CCRI pathways.

Duties and Responsibilities
CCRI Adult Education is hiring for multiple programs to start in person on Providence Campus and at Dept of Corrections.

Providence Campus ASE Bridge Program (14 hrs/wk): Mon, Tue, Wed 9 AM – 12 PM Or Mon, Tue, Wed 5:30 – 8:30 PM Start Date: October 28th


    • Facilitate 8-week sessions focused on high school equivalency skills by leading a range of activities including activation of background knowledge, modeling, academic application, physical action and realworld application.
    • Explicitly define, model and support skills and attitudes necessary for lifelong learning and facilitate selfdirected learning enabling students to connect learning to their lives.
    • Determine students level of proficiency and adjust activities accordingly using mathematical, linguistic, literary and scientific skills to meet the needs of English Language Learner, Adult Basic Education and Adult Secondary Education students.
    • Conduct intake, midpoint, and exit interviews with all students to evaluate and document academic progress and to assist in understanding of educational options.
    • Collaborate with Bridge team to evaluate student work and generate educational options for students.
    • Assist students in the interpretation of testing / assessment results for GED, ACCUPLACER and other assessments as needed.

 


RI-BEST Facilitator for Contextualized Digital Literacy @ Dept of Corrections 2 classes available, target Womens Medium Monday, Wednesday, Friday 12 – 2:30 (12 hr/wk) Mens Medium 2.5 hrs 2 nights/wk schedule TBD (8 hr/wk) Start Date: October 28th

This program will train people scheduled for release so that they have the digital life skills to achieve their goals on exit.
  • Facilitate contextualized digital literacy using Teaching the Skills that Matter curriculum, NorthStar curriculum.
  • Design adult education lessons to support mastery of critical reading skills and CASAS Competencies.
  • Provide foundational skills instruction and practice that integrate activation of background knowledge, academic application, and real-world application.

Technology:
  • Use Google and other digital platforms to work with students and with Bridge team.
  • Model and facilitate effective use of current and emerging digital tools to locate, analyze, evaluate and use information resources to support research and learning.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelors degree required
  • Three years of experience working with adult students or adults with learning difficulties and an understanding of differentiation and universal design preferred.
  • Experience with adult education curriculum for NorthStar, Teaching the Skills that Matter, CASAS Competencies preferred.
  • Experience motivating students in the learning process required.
  • Excellent interpersonal communications required.
  • Knowledge and proficiency in Google G-Suite and/or Microsoft Office is required.

Competencies
  • Three years of experience working with adult students or adults with learning difficulties and an understanding of differentiation and universal design are preferred.
