Basic Function
Representative Duties
- Writes or modifies programs as necessary to fit user needs; writes or modifies program source code; prepares sample test data; tests, corrects and revises programs, as necessary. E
- Designs and implements new databases; reviews, modifies, and maintains existing databases to ensure validity and minimize errors. E
- Analyzes, coordinates, oversees, and maintains the Colleges administrative computer systems, including hardware and software functions, to facilitate District administrative computer system operations; plans, leads, coordinates and conducts both small and major projects or phases of projects; performs project management to include implementing the systems development life cycle, working with the end user and vendors and working with databases and new programming language. E
- Analyzes problems outlined by users and potential users of information technology; studies existing systems and procedures and the introduction of potential systems; analyzes legal requirements, organization, flow of data, methods, forms, feasibility, and compatibility. E
- Monitors performance of the administrative computer system; coordinates system changes including the assignment of new accounts, allocation of disk space and system recovery. E
- Provides technical support, assistance and information to users; trains users and Information Technology Services staff in system operations and security procedures, as necessary. E
- Coordinates communication and activities with users to review and analyze user problems and needs. E
- Compiles information and data to prepare various reports related to assigned systems and functions; documents system software and hardware, as necessary. E
- Maintains current knowledge of technological advances in the information technology field; communicates with vendors and sales representatives; provides recommendations as requested regarding system modifications and enhancements. E
- Monitors the workflow of the operational area to ensure timely and efficient computer support for District operations; ensures appropriate scheduling to meet required timelines. E
- Maintains a variety of records, accounts, logs, and files related to assigned systems; prepares, establishes, and purges records, as necessary. E
- Provides work direction and guidance to Information Technology Services staff. E
- Performs a variety of clerical and administrative responsibilities in support of the departments day-to-day activities and/or operations utilizing a variety of communication modalities including but not limited to answers and responds to phone calls, emails, text messages, and chat platforms; opens, screens, and distributes mail and correspondence; photocopies documents and requests duplication services; ensures maintenance and repairs of assigned work areas, facilities, or equipment; enters various requests for services from IT, Facilities, and Maintenance; contacts vendors for equipment service, when needed; follows-up with vendors to ensure satisfactory completion of requests; may perform simple repairs or maintenance to standard office equipment. E

- Manage and work with Oracle databases and other Oracle products including Oracle database installation, configuration, performance monitoring and tuning is required.
- Analyze, coordinate, oversee, and maintain the administrative computer system.
- Serve in a lead capacity to ensure effective Information Technology Services operations, workflow, and scheduling.
- Apply principles and techniques of computer programming to specific problems and processes.

Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree with a major in computer science; AND
- Four (4) years of experience as a Systems Analyst;
- Or, any combination of education and experience which would provide the required qualifications for the position.
Foreign Degrees
Any degree from a country other than the United States, including Canada and Great Britain, must be evaluated by an Evaluation Service prior to the closing date. Certification must be attached with copies of transcripts.
License Certificates/Credentials
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid driver license.
- May be required to travel for various off-site meetings, trainings, conferences, and or events in support of the overall objective of the position.
