Montgomery College, Germantown Campus, has an immediate need for a Full-time Instructional Designer to support the Professional Development unit of the Office of E-Learning, Innovation, and Teaching Excellence (ELITE). The work schedule is Monday – Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. This is a Bargaining, Exempt, Grade 31 position. This position is currently eligible for telework 1 day(s) a week. This eligibility is subject to change based on the needs of the unit.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct analyses of occupational and academic areas to determine the requirements for revision of existing and new instructional systems including training programs.
  • Plan, coordinate and develop components of instructional design based on the findings of occupational and academic analysis.
    Develop, review and revise instructional materials for courses or occupations in accordance with specific learning objectives.
  • Design or develop criteria for designing training aids and devices based on needs analysis of the instruction/training systems.
    Plan, coordinate, develop, review, or evaluate education and training programs for total support; i.e., personnel, equipment, facilities, budget, and other resource requirements.
    Design, develop, conduct, or evaluate programs of staff and faculty development.
  • Develop objective tests and other instruments to measure student achievement and the adequacy of instruction/training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master Degree in curriculum development, instructional design, adult education, human resources development, or a relevant field OR the equivalent combination of education, training, certification and/or experience that provides the required knowledge and expertise to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Five years experience in learning and/or organizational development in higher education, designing and developing learning objectives and e-learning environments and evaluation and assessment techniques.
  • Thorough knowledge of instructional design theory, principles and practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of adult learning theory and principles and of designing, developing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs; of curriculum and program development; of project management and research principles; of training standards and techniques; of instructional technologies including online course design and course management systems.
  • Ability to anticipate needs, manage conflict; to work with diverse populations with diverse needs; building coalitions; and secure resources.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Working knowledge of document and web accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG, ADA).
  • Experience with self-paced training development, including the use of software like Articulate 360.

Salary range: $76,679 - $122,664. Initial salary placement for new hires falls between the minimum and midpoint of the range ($76,679 - $99,671), based on experience and internal equity. Please include a complete resume including all relevant and related work experience.
