Job Summary
The Department of Behavioral Sciences in the College of Arts, Sciences, and Letters (CASL) invites applications from well-qualified candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Cognitive Psychology beginning Fall 2025.
We seek to hire an outstanding scholar and teacher with research interests in human cognition. Evidence of research potential and teaching excellence is required.
Our faculty have a 2:2 teaching load. Successful candidates will be expected to teach Applied Cognitive Psychology, Learning and Memory, Sensation and Perception, undergraduate and graduate Statistics, or Introduction to Brain and Behavior.
All tenure track faculty are expected to develop an independent program of research in their area of specialization. We especially value candidates who have demonstrated interest in involving students in research, as all tenure-track faculty are expected to provide research opportunities to our students, both undergraduate and graduate. Our discipline views undergraduate research as a top priority in psychology majors? education at UM-Dearborn. A main area of service we expect for this faculty member is the advising of both undergraduate and graduate students in their theses and independent research projects. In addition, tenure-track faculty are expected to participate in departmental and university governance. Furthermore, we prioritize an inclusive work environment and invite the candidate to share their approach to fostering a collaborative and supportive atmosphere within the department.

Required Qualifications*
Successful candidates must have a Ph.D. in psychology or related discipline by the time the position starts and must demonstrate a commitment to undergraduate and graduate teaching and mentorship, including courses in Cognitive Psychology and Statistics that address core area needs. New faculty hired at the Assistant Professor level will be expected to establish an independent research program.
