Job Summary

Estrella Mountain Community College (EMCC) is hiring a Dean of Student Affairs. This position develops, administers, supervises, and directs several departments and services for the college; provides leadership and strategic direction, and demonstrates a commitment to student success, diversity, service excellence, innovation, and collaboration. 

This position reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs, supervises several Student Affairs departments and is responsible for adjudicating student conduct issues, as well as investigating student non-instructional complaints and Title IX complaints. 
 

Essential Functions

25% Supervises multiple student affairs departments; Hires, evaluates and trains staff; Directs and develops programs / activities, and evaluates college-wide student services programs / activities designed to facilitate student access and success. Develops long-range strategic planning, program design, student / program assessments and program management; Prepares and monitors budgets and oversees budget expenditures; Prepares and monitors student learning outcomes assessments and program reviews within areas of oversight.

20% Administers and enforces policies and processes pertaining to student access and success services and student conduct; Monitors the compliance and reporting standards of district, state, and federal regulations; Shares responsibility for student judicial affairs and manages student complaints as per MCCCD policies and procedures; Keeps abreast of compliance and reporting standards with state, federal, and district regulations

20% Directs, develops, plans, organizes, and implements long-range strategies which support a research-based foundation for college-wide enrollment, retention and persistence efforts; Coordinates technology tracking systems, data collection, analysis and follow-up

20% Administers an interconnected range of student services functions; Integrates MCCCD student access and success initiatives into programming efforts, which improves student engagement, persistence, retention, and completion; Develops and maintains strong liaison relationships with internal and external partners / constituents 

15% Represents the student affairs division at activities, events, workshops, and conferences; Serves on various college committees to include but is not limited to, college strategic planning, behavioral intervention team, compliance, strategic enrollment management, super enrollment team, graduation committee, etc.; Coordinates campus-wide events; Other duties as assigned commensurate to the grade level of the position
 

Minimum Qualifications

Masters Degree from a regionally accredited institution in education or field related to area of assignment and four (4) years of progressively responsible management and/or leadership experience in field of assignment that includes two years of supervisory experience. Examples of student affairs academic support management/leadership experience includes: program management, project management, budget development and management related to programs or projects, staff supervision, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance. No degree equivalency.  

OR 

Minimum Qualifications for Academic pathway:  Master's Degree in a teaching field related to area(s) of assignment and four years of experience in an academic leadership and/or supervisory role in higher education and three years of teaching that includes curriculum/coursework development.   Examples of academic leadership/supervisory experience includes: division/department chair, project management, policy development, administration, evaluation and compliance, committee leadership, program director, and shared governance.  No degree equivalency.

Desired Qualifications

A. Three (3) years' experience managing multiple student affairs departments.

B. Three (3) years' experience leading cross-functional teams in the successful development and delivery of college-wide student enrollment and student success activities and programs for individuals from diverse backgrounds, abilities, perspectives, and / or cultures.

C. Three (3) years' experience in adjudicating student conduct and / or student grievances.

D. Experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders i.e., students, faculty, employees, systems personnel and community members.

E. Experience writing programs reviews, budget analysis reports, and student success proposals / grants.

F. Experience using technology tracking tools (i.e., 4DX, CRM, Qualtrics, Cranium Cafe/ConexED, etc.) in project management and data analysis.

Special Working Conditions

May be required to work evenings and weekends; remote and hybrid work opportunities may be available based on department needs.  

In-person interviews (writing skills assessment).

May be required to work at multiple sites or locations.

 

Travel to campus during interview/selection process will be at candidates own expense.
