Position

Are you passionate about supporting a diverse community of students? Join RTC as a WorkFirst Service Delivery Coordinator. This is a full-time, exempt position and reports directly to the Director of Workforce Education. The WorkFirst Service Delivery Coordinator provides assistance in establishing and maintaining eligibility for Workforce funding and federal financial aid to students from a wide variety of cultural, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds. The primary responsibility is to assist WorkFirst students and to complete the necessary paperwork between the various state agencies and the college as it pertains to each students training plan. Other responsibilities include serving as a liaison representing the Renton Technical College (RTC) WorkFirst program to DSHS, Employment Security Department, Department of Commerce contractors and other local WorkFirst partners. This employee will implement a quarterly educational engagement plan, providing onsite RTC CSO information keeping DSHS case managers informed about training opportunities for WorkFirst students at RTC and collaborating with case managers to assess educational readiness of WorkFirst clients, develop client training plans and facilitate referrals to RTC programs. This position will collaborate with WorkFirst team members to document outcomes of engagement strategies on a quarterly basis and provide input into RTC WorkFirst Delivery Plan and reports, and to coordinate participation in the Work Study program.

The pay range for this exempt position is $80,000 to $89,386.07 annually. Annual continuation of this position is contingent on special funding. The priority consideration date for this position will be October 25, 2024 and will remain open until filled.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions Include

 

  • Demonstrate multicultural competence (including an awareness and understanding of historically minoritized populations) and maintain an educational and work environment that affirms commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Assist WorkFirst students with admission into the appropriate college program or job readiness classes.
  • Determine student eligibility for financial assistance under RTC WorkFirst, in coordination with other workforce funding programs and financial aid.
  • Represent RTC as an educational consultant to DSHS case managers at CSOs within the service area.
  • Responsible for daily communication with DSHS WorkFirst staff utilizing the Ecasemanagement System (Ejas).
  • Establish and maintain a good working relationship with various state agencies that serve WorkFirst students.
  • Completes and maintains all appropriate files.
  • Track and report progress of RTC WorkFirst students and assist them with long term career planning and transition to college level programs.
  • Coordinate RTC representation at all WorkFirst Local Planning Areas in our service area.
  • Participate in RTC WorkFirst Team Meetings.
  • Prepare required quarterly reports and assist with the development of the annual WorkFirst Delivery Plan.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively, both orally and in writing, with college employees, departments and outside agencies.
  • Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  • Perform other related tasks as assigned.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Demonstrated leadership in institutional programs with persons from diverse backgrounds such as sexual orientation, racial, ethnic, religious, linguistic, gender, age, socio-economic, physical and learning abilities, and a commitment to an inclusive and equitable working / learning environment.
  • Bachelors degree in counseling, social work or other related field and two (2) years related work experience. Knowledge of state Workforce program requirements preferred.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of state WorkFirst partnership program requirements.
  • Successful experience working with low income individuals in overcoming barriers to self-sufficiency.
  • Familiarity with career pathway planning, student assessment and the community and technical college system.
  • Demonstrated excellent communication skills – oral and written, including group presentations.
  • Ability to deal with difficult situations professionally and diplomatically.
  • Must have reliable transportation and a valid Drivers license.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, think critically and exercise independent judgment required.
  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office 2010, specifically experience in creating & editing documents, spreadsheets and presentations. Previous success learning new computer software programs/platforms required.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated ability to promote universal design and accessibility. Proficiency in (or ability to learn within 6 month of hire) the production of accessibly content, whether print or electronic.
  • Demonstrates attention to detail required as well as previous experience maintaining accurate records, managing multiple tasks and planning and organizing work in order to meet changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to represent the college in a positive and professional manner, while using tact, discretion and courtesy.
  • Ability to speak a regionally top spoken language other than English is preferred (Spanish, Vietnamese, Russian, Somali, and Chinese).

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Normal work hours for this position are 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday through Friday. Work is sedentary in nature and is performed in an office environment which is adequately heated and ventilated. Frequent use of computer and exposure to terminal screens in performing work assignments required.
