Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
ITS Finance & Administration (F&A) provides financial management, human resources support and administrative services to ITS. The unit handles financial planning and budgeting, human resources, benefits, vendor management, parking, facilities management and facility-related security.

Position Summary
This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy. UNC Chapel Hill employees are generally required to reside within a reasonable commuting distance of their assigned duty station.

The ITS HR Specialist is a professional role that functions as a generalist and will be responsible for consulting with ITS leaders and managers in assigned units regarding classification/compensation and recruitment/staffing of SHRA and EHRA positions. They will also be responsible for processing actions for SHRA and EHRA permanent, temporary, and student staff, and other personnel actions as requested. This role is the time and attendance administrator for their assigned units. This position ensures that human resource activities within the assigned units are completed in a timely, effective, and efficient manner while complying with University, State and Federal guidelines. The ITS HR Specialist will be the point of contact for the various University central offices.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelors degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
A successful candidate will have prior human resources experience performing a variety of HR functions. Ability to maintain the highest level of confidentiality is required. This position requires attention to detail and organization, as well as professionalism and discretion, excellent customer service skills, and an ability to adapt easily, follow through, complete tasks and resolve issues. The candidate must demonstrate a working knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations (e.g. FLSA, FMLA). Excellent verbal and written communication skills
are essential. The individual must have the ability to maintain records with great accuracy.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret policy, previous Human Resources experience in a University setting, experience with PeopleAdmin, ConnectCarolina/PeopleSoft, LawLogix, UNCs time-tracking system (TIM) and lnfoPorte, and proficiency in Office 365 is all highly desired.
