SUMMARY

 

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until a final candidate has been selected. Applications submitted for continuous recruitment opportunities will remain active for six months.
 

Salary is commensurate with education and experience

Responsible for assisting the Financial Aid Director with Scholarships, Financial Aid Awards, and Childcare Grants while adhering to the college's guidelines as mandated by Federal and State Regulations. Assistance with completing and submitting required local/state/national reports. Evening and weekend work may be required. Some travel is required, including overnight stays.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in developing and presenting educational programs and/or workshops related to financial aid. 
  • Counsel financial aid recipients on aid requirements and oversee Satisfactory Academic Progress. 
  • Responsible for verifying, awarding, and processing state and federal student awards, including Childcare Grants 
  • Review class schedules as needed for enrollment in required classes only. Inform students when they are taking courses outside of their major. 
  • Review all drop forms for Financial Aid recipients to certify hours of attendance/eligibility for funds. 
  • Assist students with the completion of FAFSA forms. 
  • Assist Financial Aid Director with preparing detailed federal and state applications, reports, and surveys required by college officials and governmental agencies (state and federal) related to financial aid and students. 
  • Utilize Informer Reporting to retrieve relevant statistical information related to various college, state, and federal reports. 
  • Serve as a liaison between the college and prospective students, parents, colleges, and agencies. 
  • Serve on college committees. 
  • Acquire computer/technology/financial aid competencies by attending training sessions and conferences to stay abreast of changing Financial Aid Regulations and database changes. 
  • Assist with equipment and software maintenance. 
  • Maintain security of personal computer access. 
  • Perform other professional or job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities.

REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Skills:

Required: Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Financial Management, or closely related field OR Associates Degree in Business Management, Financial Management or closely related field with considerable knowledge of data management systems and processes and considerable knowledge of the policies and eligibility requirements related to the provision of financial aid to students. Good communications and human relations skills.

Preferred: Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Financial Management or closely related field. Some knowledge of Informer Reporting. Extensive knowledge of data management systems and processes. Extensive knowledge of the policies and eligibility requirements related to the provision of financial aid to students. Bilingual. Career Readiness Certificate (CRC).

Experience

Required: Considerable experience in the financial aid office. Some Colleague or related database experience.

Preferred: Extensive experience working with student records management. Extensive experience in word processing and computerized data collection. Considerable experience in investigating and analyzing information. Some experience in the community college system.
