Albany Technical College is seeking a full-time Campus Police Officer. Under general supervision of the Campus Police Sergeant, the full-time Police Officer will perform law enforcement duties in order to maintain security and order on the college campus. The Campus Police Officer will ensure that their annual POST hours, firearms training and range time is up to date. He/she may coordinate and/or conduct campus safety education and training for faculty, staff, and students. He/she may monitor the activities of personnel to ensure compliance with TCSG policy manual and department procedures. The Campus Police Officer enforces state laws, rules and regulations governing safety and security on technical college campuses and at college events and ensures compliance with CLERY Act related requirements. He/she will respond to emergency and non-emergency calls for service as necessary, writes reports of daily activities and irregularities and assists with and maintains files related to the College Identification Badge/Parking Decal Program. The Campus Police Officer will assist with the inspection and maintenance of fire alarms, security systems, fire extinguishers, will respond to fires, natural disasters and or other hazardous events. He/she will coordinate disaster response or crisis management activities such as opening shelters, special needs programs and evacuation in the absence of the Police Chief and or Police Sergeant. He/she will escort or drive motor vehicle to transport individuals to specified locations and to provide personal protection. He/she will patrol designated areas, attend shift briefings, including inspection of officers appearance, equipment and duty assignments. He/she will perform the full range of Police Officer duties. The Campus Police Officer will review reports in a timely manner while assuring accuracy, completeness and grammatical correctness. He/she will monitor scheduling to ensure efficient and effective use of personnel and budget resources. The Campus Police Officer will perform liaison functions between the Police Department and outside agencies or other City departments. He/she will ensure continuous communication/accurate information flow between the members of the Police Department. He/she will maintain proficiency in the use of police related equipment, law updates and continuous training. The Campus Police Officer will appear in court and will be available to testify in matters which he/she has knowledge of, whether criminal or civil. He/she will maintain and request supplies and equipment on a needed basis, such as office supplies and equipment maintenance supplies. He/she must be able to apply the power of arrest when necessary. He/she will serve as a Campus Security Authority, to ensure that the proper protocol is followed if and when a crime is witnessed. Training will be provided. The Campus Police Officer must maintain Georgia Peace Officer Standards Training (POST) certification and the mandatory Post annual hours.

Minimum Qualifications: The candidate MUST possess a High School Diploma or GED, be a citizen of the United State, must be 20 years of age and possess a valid drivers license, no felony or domestic violence convictions, must pass a drug and psychological screening and back ground check. Candidate must be P.O.S.T certified.

Preferred Qualifications: Along with being P.O.S.T. certified, the candidate should have at least two (2) years of law enforcement experience.

Physical Demands: The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table, performed outdoors in inclement weather conditions, or while intermittently sitting, standing, running, stooping, walking, bending or crouching. The employee frequently lifts light to heavy weight objects, climbs ladders, and uses tools or equipment requiring a high degree of dexterity. Work requires the use of ballistic vests, body worn camera, and protective devices such as masks, goggles, gloves and specialized law enforcement equipment.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $46,800.00 per year
