Job Description:

GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide on campus instruction to students in English Composition course(s) during the Spring 2025 semester (January 21, 2025 - May 16, 2025). The Instructor will teach one or more courses in Composition I (ENL101), English Composition II (ENL102), and Critical Reading and Thinking (ENL108). These courses are entry-level college composition courses designed to strengthen students' reading, writing, critical thinking, and research skills.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:

  1. Provide instruction using active learning methods.
  2. Select and develop appropriate materials for class use.
  3. Track and assess student progress.
  4. Maintain appropriate attendance and learner records.
  5. Participate in ongoing professional development.
  6. Post syllabus on Moodle Learning Management System.

 


Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Master's degree in English or a closely related field with appropriate areas of concentration.
  2. College-level teaching experience in English Composition or equivalent.
  3. Experience fostering an inclusive, supportive, interactive classroom environment that draws on Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles when teaching courses.
  4. Experience using evidence-based strategies to support student success including frequent communication and active learning.
  5. Skill in using instructional technologies effectively to support the writing, teaching, and learning processes.
  6. Experience teaching with a commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) principles to ensure the classroom is designed for a diverse group of learners to succeed. 

ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Teaching at the community college level.
  2. Skill using MOODLE or other Learning Management System (LMS) to support student learning.

COMPENSATION:  Anticipated starting salary - Step I DCE Pay Scale. Part-time, non-benefited MCCC Unit position.
