Research Program Coordinator
Job Description
We are seeking a Research Program Coordinator (RPC) who will assist investigators in conducting clinical research in people living with HIV in the Baltimore area. RPC will work with the Core Manager to identify the appropriate domestic clinical resources for studies that are being submitted for developmental grants and projects that receive a developmental award. RPC will primarily be assigned to one or two studies but will also assist in short-term recruitment (< 6 months) and intermittent recruitment for other studies conducted by junior faculty. The role would include identifying potential patients for the study, confirming that patients meet eligibility for that study, and getting informed consent from the patient. For some studies the research program coordinator would also assist in the collection of data by phone or in-person interviews and medical record review. The RPC will also assist in maintaining an HIV clinic environment conducive for clinical studies recruitment, including informing patients and clinicians of the availability of clinical studies and facilitating patient linkage into studies.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
- Works with Clinical Core investigators to identify, recruit and enroll study participants.
- Conducts comprehensive health assessments of patients.
- Records and documents health assessment accurately.
- Educates patients on the study protocol, their health conditions and ensures education regarding the importance of their adherence to care.
- Regularly attends scheduled continuing education programs to ensure current knowledge of procedures, protocols, and clinical care issues.
- Works collaboratively with other project staff to meet study goals and deliverables. Develops and implements systems for monitoring, reporting and quality assurance activities.
- Ensures program quality, research fidelity, and adherence to project goals and timelines.
- Produces reports as needed for the project.
- Facilitates patient linkage to clinical studies in the HIV clinic by informing patients and providers of available studies.
- Works closely with Co-PIs to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements for the study.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.
- Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years relevant research experience acquired through extracurricular activities, internships or work experience is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Excel.
- Understanding of basic statistics and qualitative data collection (interviews) and analysis.
- Ability to learn new systems for which the candidate may not be familiar (ex. REDCap, OnCore).
- Knowledge of clinical research practices and principles.
- Ability to work well as a member of a team.
- Work well independently; able to set goals and meet required deadlines.
- Independent decision-making/trouble-shooting abilities.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to work on multiple and competing priorities.

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY ($49.400 targeted; Commensurate with experience)
