Position Summary:
Morris College seeks a dedicated and student-focused Director of Residence Life and Student Conduct to provide strategic leadership for the colleges residential experience and the student judicial process. Reporting to the Vice President of Student Affairs, this position is responsible for overseeing residence life operations, housing assignments, community development, and the full administration of the student conduct process for the entire college, including residential and non-residential student matters.
This role is integral to fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging campus environment that promotes personal development, accountability, and student success. Proficiency in Jenzabar and Learning Management System (LMS) platforms is required to manage housing assignments, student records, and engagement initiatives efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
Housing & Residential Operations:
- Oversee all aspects of residence life, including room assignments, occupancy management, and policy implementation.
- Use Jenzabar and LMS software to maintain accurate housing and student records.
- Ensure compliance with institutional housing policies and state/federal housing regulations.
- Supervise residence life staff, including resident assistants (RAs) and housing coordinators.
- Collaborate with Facilities and Campus Safety on residence hall operations and maintenance.
Community Development & Student Engagement:
- Cultivate an inclusive and supportive residential community through intentional programming and engagement.
- Design and implement programs that enhance leadership, wellness, academic success, and student retention.
- Partner with offices such as Student Activities, Health & Wellness, and Academic Affairs to enrich the student life experience.
- Provide support for student needs such as roommate mediation, wellness referrals, and conflict resolution.
Student Conduct & Judicial Affairs:
- Serve as the chief administrator for the student judicial process at Morris College, overseeing all student conduct cases, including both residential and non-residential violations.
- Develop, implement, and maintain policies, procedures, and educational sanctions in alignment with institutional values and due process.
- Serve as a hearing officer for students conduct cases and train residence life staff in documentation and conduct protocols.
- Maintain conduct records and manage case tracking systems.
- Ensure the student conduct process is educational, equitable, and promotes student accountability and integrity.
Crisis Response & On-Call Management:
- Respond to student crises and emergencies in collaboration with Campus Safety and Student Affairs leadership.
- Participate in the colleges on-call rotation and provide guidance and support during incidents impacting student well-being.
- Provide training for staff on emergency protocols, crisis de-escalation, and support resources.
Administrative & Strategic Leadership:
- Manage residence life and students conduct budgets responsibly.
- Conduct assessment and evaluation of residential and judicial programs to improve student outcomes.
- Communicate housing and conduct policies clearly to students and stakeholders.
- Serve on campus-wide committees related to student support, well-being, and retention efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree required, Masters degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, or a related field preferred.
- 3–5 years of progressive experience in residence life, student conduct, or student affairs.
- Experience managing campus judicial affairs and familiarity with student conduct systems and procedures.
- Knowledge of Jenzabar, LMS, and student information platforms.
- Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and supervisory skills.
- Ability to manage sensitive situations with discretion, professionalism, and care.
Work Conditions & Schedule:
- Requires evening and weekend availability for on-call responsibilities and student programming.
- Occasional travel for professional development or student affairs conferences.
