Summary:
Jefferson Community and Technical College has an anticipated opening for two full-time English Instructors. These positions are contingent upon funding.

Duties:
This position will be responsible for full-time instruction in English composition (largely in first-year writing), fostering an active and inclusive learning environment in which students from a variety of backgrounds and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive, maintaining office hours for mentoring and coaching students, engaging in success and retention activities, and utilizing Blackboard for communication and feedback. Instructors may be expected to teach on multiple campuses for both day and evening courses, in a variety of delivery modes including fully in-person, fully online, and hybrid.

Other duties include but are not limited to:

• Academic advising
• Course and curriculum development
• Internal and external community service
• Educational leadership and professional development.

Salary based on qualifications and experience.

Qualifications:
Master’s degree in English or Master’s degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in English required. Experience in, and understanding of the importance of, working with students from diverse backgrounds required. Teaching experience at the college level and online teaching experience preferred. This position requires the ability to work supportively in a culturally diverse environment of students, faculty, staff, and the community. Candidates who have demonstrated a commitment to working with multi-lingual learners and historically under-served students and/or communities through teaching, mentoring, or administration are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates with a demonstrated ability to incorporate an intersectional framework into teaching and student engagement are encouraged to identify those experiences in the application materials. Jefferson Community and Technical College, based in Louisville, Ky., is the largest of 16 colleges forming the Kentucky Community and Technical College System. It encompasses six campuses in four counties with over 12,000 students enrolled on campus and in on-line programs.
