Human Resources Development Instructor (Part-time)

Job Description

Continuing Education Human Resource Development classes aid unemployed or underemployed students in searching and applying for employment, learning employability skills and/or basic computer skills. Under general supervision, the purpose of this position is to provide a comprehensive Human Resources Development (HRD) instructional program committed to quality teaching and successful student achievement. Employees in this classification will be responsible for providing classroom instruction; administering tests; evaluating student performance and maintaining accurate documentation as required by state standards.

EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Degree, certification, and/or NC licensure in a vocational and/or life skills subject area from a regionally accredited institution preferredAdvanced knowledge of computer applications including: Microsoft Word, Excel, use of various Internet browsers, email use and features, Internet job searching and completing applications onlineCandidate with teaching experience is preferredMust have knowledge of employability, interview, and resume writing skills and the ability to work with diverse populationsCandidate must be able to develop lessons/course syllabus and maintain attendance time sheets and rostersCandidate should possess effective written and oral communication skills, and be able to serve individuals from all socio-economic levels and ethnic groupsWorking ConditionsHours would be based on needs of studentCandidate must be willing to work days or nights as needed

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Continuing Education Instructors are expected to demonstrate and maintain competence in each of the following areas throughout their employment at the college: Mastery of Subject MatterDemonstrate a thorough and accurate knowledge of their field or disciplineDisplay an ability to interpret and evaluate the theories of their field or disciplineConnect their subject matter with related fieldsStay current in their subject matter through professional development, through involvement in professional organizations, and attending professional meetings, conferences or workshopsLearn and use technology to enhance teaching and the educational experience when appropriateTeaching PerformanceTeach a course load appropriate to their field or disciplinePlan and organize instruction in ways that maximize student learningEmploy appropriate teaching and learning strategies to communicate subject matter to studentsModify, where appropriate, instructional methods and strategies to meet diverse students needsEmploy available instructional technology when appropriateEncourage the development of communication skills and higher order thinking skills through appropriate assignmentsContribute to the selection and development of instructional materials in accordance with course objectivesEvaluation of Student LearningEstablish and follow meaningful learning objectivesDevelop and explain methods that fairly measure student progress toward course objectivesEvaluate student performance fairly and consistently and return student work promptly to promote maximum learningMaintain accurate records of student progress and submit final grade rosters to division administrator each semester according to established deadlinesDemonstrate sensitivity to student needs and circumstancesMust demonstrate ability to create professional work related documents such as cover letters, resumes, and applications
