The University of Southampton seeks to appoint a Lecturer in Film, on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Film Department at Southampton has an excellent reputation for teaching and research. We are based within the School of Humanities in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities and have close interdisciplinary links with other members of the School and the wider University. The successful candidate will show outstanding potential as a scholar and will be enthusiastic and flexible in contributing to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, as well as keen to participate fully in the intellectual and academic activities of a lively and committed department which prizes collegiality very highly. We invite applications from candidates with proven teaching skills and a PhD in Film Studies (or other cognate subject areas) at time of application, with knowledge and experience of film theory. Other expertise and interest in cultural studies approaches to screen media would be an advantage, as may be the capacity of applicants’ research to have impact beyond the academy.
