Job Summary
Sheridan College is seeking applications for a qualified person to provide high quality, college level instruction in History. This History generalist will be actively engaged in education to complement current degree programs with general education courses. A successful candidate will teach a U.S. History sequence, a Western Civilization sequence, introduction to Political Science. and may have the opportunity to develop specialty courses. This position includes offering courses in-person, hybrid, online or hyflex for Sheridan College and may include evening times and off-campus locations. Faculty members are expected to engage with students inside and outside the classroom, to participate in collegial activity with peers, to participate in on-going professional development, and to be involved with the governance process. This is a full-time, tenure-track faculty position.

Education/Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher in History or a related field; or a master’s degree with eighteen graduate semester credit hours in History or a related field is required.

Knowledge:

Abilities and Skills:
  • Ability to teach courses in high quality college level instruction within the disciplines of history and/or political science
  • Ability to use a variety of teaching methods and materials that assist student learning.
  • Ability to work with a broad spectrum of student abilities.
  • Ability to support and expand community outreach and collaborations.
  • Ability to work in a team with shared responsibilities and agreed upon objectives.
  • Diligence in submitting required grades, attendance records and other college forms in a timely fashion.
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
Standard faculty schedule: some teaching assignments may be scheduled for evenings and weekends.
