Description

Snow College is seeking a dynamic individual to participate in the continued development and implementation of a new Bachelor of Science in Software Engineering Degree Program. This person should have a track record of mentoring individuals toward success. They should possess dynamic presentation skills and be capable of clear communication.
They will guide students through this program by instruction, securing internship opportunities, and developing curriculum that matches industry expectations.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or closely related field. Preferably, candidates will have a Ph.D.
Preferred Qualifications:
He or she must have the ability to teach the full-range of courses from foundation level courses in computer science to upper level courses in software engineering. Preference will be given to those with experience with automation in software engineering, web services, data management, and software maintenance.
They must possess a student oriented focus with an ability to inspire the best efforts of students in the classroom, lab, and practicum.
They must be proficient in written, oral, presentation, and speaking English. They must be eligible to work legally in the United States.
Candidates with experience in curriculum development and design; successful experience working with colleagues and in teams; skills to be an excellent recruiter, advisor, mentor, and connector; or experience working with underrepresented minority students will be given preference.
They will also be given preference for programming experience in a variety of languages (C#, JavaScript, Python, etc.). Additional experience in the following areas is valued:
  • Experience in application design and development
  • Familiarity with IoT or intelligent application platforms
  • Connection to industry partners and other education institutions.
  • Modern development methodologies (agile, scrum, etc.)
  • DevOps / DevSecOps (CI/CD)
  • Distributed version control
  • Modern front-end development tools & languages (preference for React)
  • Modern back-end development tools & languages (preference for .NET/C#)
  • Database administration (preference for PostgreSQL)
  • Software testing (TDD, BDD, etc.)
  • Software maintenance
Major Responsibilities/Duties
Faculty are expected to teach fifteen credit equivalencies per semester and assist in student mentoring, recruiting, and placement. They will teach typical undergraduate courses in software engineering, software development, and computer science. They may occasionally teach special topics courses in areas of personal interest
They will participate in student recruitment and program marketing. They will advise and mentor computer science and software engineering students. They will also help find employment opportunities for students after the completion of the program.
Faculty will also participate in engineering department growth and improvement as well as faculty development activities and college committee assignments.
