Position Summary:

UAF's Community and Technical College is seeking applicants for adjunct / part-time faculty to instruct students in various areas of mathematics. Classes are taught by various modalities and in various locations. They and can meet during the daytime, evenings, and/or weekends. Flexible schedules are available. Adjunct positions are on a semester-by-semester contract basis.

Duties:

- The incumbent will be responsible for teaching one or more undergraduate courses in a manner consistent with UAF Faculty Senate guidelines and the specific course catalog description.

- Adjunct faculty are expected to participate annually in scheduled mandatory initial organization or orientation meetings and are required to complete UAF mandatory trainings within the specified period of time.

- Duties include instructing, advising, and assessing/grading students in the identified subject matter in alignment with UAF policies and procedures and direction from faculty program coordinators.

- Duties include developing a course outline, syllabus, teaching materials, and tests or other assessment methods consistent with UAF policies and procedures.

Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their academic preparation, past teaching experience, and potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students.

UAF CTC is responsive to local and regional vocational and technical training needs, and focuses on workforce development to meet the needs of the region and the state. UAF CTC's programs also provide students with the academic framework to help them achieve their higher education goals, whether it is to complete an associate of arts degree or transfer to a baccalaureate program. Classes are taught at 9 locations throughout Fairbanks and the Tanana Valley of Interior Alaska.

Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their academic preparation, past teaching experience, and potential for providing high quality instruction to undergraduate students.

Minimum requirements:

  • Expertise and experience relevant to the effective teaching of the specific subject areas.
  • A master's degree in math or a related field and prior teaching experience is required.

UAF CTC employs a diverse population of approximately 35 full-time faculty and 200 adjunct faculty who are represented by two unions and a staff of about 35. Approximately 3000 students attend UAF CTC. They are culturally diverse and include many non-traditional students and students from the military community.
