Job Description
GENERAL STATEMENT OF FUNCTION
Incumbent is directly responsible for the efficient direction, coordination and supervision of all aspects of the academic and career/technical programs. Incumbent works closely with the Jackson County Campus, Harrison County Campus, Community Campus, and District Office to coordinate instructional programs and class offerings. The Dean of Teaching and Learning reports to the Vice President of the Perkinston Campus and George County Center.

Job Duties
1. Advise the Vice President of the Perkinston Campus and George County Center on the conduct of instructional programs (academic and career/technical), with particular interest being given to providing quality programs; identify needs and make recommendations for improvements as necessary; recommend program offerings to satisfy educational needs. This includes continuation of existing programs and classes, introduction of new programs and classes, and deletion of programs and classes that are no longer effective.
2. Develop, implement, and report on all instructional faculty and department meetings on a regular basis.
3. Recruit qualified applicants, in conjunction with the District Human Resources Office, to fill expected and projected faculty, staff, and administrative vacancies. The Dean of Teaching and Learning is responsible for both the selection and recommendation for hiring of all instructional personnel under their supervision.
4. Develop and conduct a comprehensive orientation program for all new instructional personnel; ensure that all instructional personnel are briefed on college and campus policies and procedures that will influence their actions throughout their contract period.
5. Continually review the college-wide instructional issues and make recommendation for needed changes.
6. Continually review instructional programs with the objective of ensuring a smooth transfer of students from the community college to senior colleges.
7. Participate in all budget deliberation involving the instructional programs to include planning for and preparation of the budget and expenditures of approved funds in conjunction with the Dean of Business Services.
8. Develop, plan, and implement in-service training programs for instructional personnel in cooperation with Human Resources.
9. Responsible for the successful operation of the colleges Band of Gold.
10. Participate in planning for new or different instructional facilities.
11. Maintain campus personnel files on all instructors and assure the proper distribution of original personnel documents to the College Human Resources Office.
12. Serve as a member of the Instructional Affairs Council.
13. Serve as a member of the Campus Administrative Leadership Team.
14. Coordinate any recommended change for published college or campus policies with the Vice President of the Perkinston Campus and George County Center and/or other administrators.
15. Serve as a member of the Campus Emergency Management Team. Must be in a position to return to campus immediately following a disaster as directed by the Vice President of the Perkinston Campus and George County Center.
16. Cooperate with the Executive Vice President of Teaching and Learning/Community Campus, Executive Vice President of Enrollment Management and Student Success, Associate Vice President of Teaching and Learning, and Associate Vice President of Community Campus and Career and Technical Education in the planning, implementation and evaluation of academic, noncredit and learning resource programs.
17. Supervise the Learning Resources Center, working with the Assistant Dean of Learning Resources to facilitate the services and resources for usage by students, faculty, staff and community members.
18. Coordinate faculty assignments for registration with the Dean of Business Services and Dean of Student Services and Enrollment Management.
19. In cooperation with the Community Campus, work with business, industry and labor unions to ensure proper identification of needs and better understanding between the educational and business/industry communities. This includes attending and helping to organize advisory committee meetings for career/technical programs.
20. Attend and support student activities outside the normal workday, e.g. Fine Art events, athletic events, special functions, and any other activity assigned by the Vice President of the Perkinston Campus and George County Center.
21. Evaluate department chairpersons every spring.
22. Supervise department chairpersons evaluations of faculty.
23. Coordinate student evaluation of instruction.
24. Be involved in community activities.
25. Coordinate and monitor faculty records for enrollment audit.
26. Assume other duties assigned by the Vice President of the Perkinston Campus and George County Center or Executive Vice President of Teaching and Learning/Community Campus.

Mandatory Qualifications
(M1) Earned doctorate in an appropriate field from a regionally accredited institution of higher education. (M2) Full-time administrative experience that would indicate competence in academic and/or career/technical education. (M3) Post-secondary and/or community college teaching experience. (M4) Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills. (M5) Computer literacy. (M6) Budgeting and class scheduling experience.

Desirable Qualifications
(D1) Earned doctorate in Education Leadership or closely related field. (D2) Experience with non-traditional delivery of instruction. (D3) Demonstrated familiarity with emerging technologies. (D4) Experience in a multi-campus environment.
