Centralia College is located on a 30-acre campus in the heart of Centralia, Washington and has been serving students in the Lewis County region since 1925. As a comprehensive community college, Centralia College offers academic transfer and workforce programs, as well as adult basic education, ELL, and personal enrichment classes. The college also offers five Bachelor of Applied Science degrees: Information Technology - Application Development, Diesel Technology, Applied Management (Business), Behavioral Healthcare and Teacher Education.

In addition to the main campus in Centralia, Centralia College East in Morton is a smaller site that serves the needs of students in east Lewis County. Since the college is committed to the success of all students, Centralia College also provides educational programs at two corrections centers in southwest Washington - Garrett Heyns Education Center located in Shelton, Washington and the Cedar Creek Corrections Center located in Littlerock, Washington. In addition to Green Hill School in Chehalis, Washington. In total, the college serves more than 7,000 students annually. Job Description

Under general supervision of the Dean of Student Success and Retention, provides support to the staff of Blazer Central and the Welcome Desk. This includes providing enrollment and resources information to the public and assisting advisors, campus staff, faculty and students in the mentoring process.

Duties and Responsibilities

Maintains multiple spreadsheets that are essential to the mentoring program, student workers, Blazer Central, and the Welcome Desk. The spreadsheets provide statistical data essential to scheduling of student workers, mentor and mentee assignments, training regiments for mentees, tracking of Blazer Central attendance, and to provide information for the monthly report.

Works with advisors, across campus staff, faculty, students and the public. Answers general questions regarding processes to enroll in college, college support resources, mentor program and training, placement testing, and general college information.

Maintains Blazer Central email and phones. Serves as a lead to student employees and assists with training and providing work to student employees.

Schedules appointments and meetings of several types of categories mentor check-in meetings, meeting with mentees for follow-up. Meets with the Dean of Student Success, the Multi-Cultural Outreach Specialist, the WF West Assistant Director, and the Assistant Director of Student Success and Retention for updates and training modifications.

Receives and maintains Blazer Central office supplies.

Qualifications

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND Two years of full-time clerical experience OR Equivalent education/experience.
  • Must know Microsoft suite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree
  • Bonus to know multiple types of Centralia College software platforms (ctcLink, HPUX).

 

Conditions of Employment

There is one 15 hours per week year round position. Classified employees are represented by the Washington State Federation of State Employees (WFSE).

DEADLINE: The postion will close January 7, 2024. The screening committee will begin their review January 8, 2024.

COMPENSATION
Monthly Salary: Range 37 ($1,179.38 - $1,527)
