Associate Vice President of Human Resources and Workforce Equity

Job Description

The Associate Vice President of Human Resources and Workforce Equity provides strategic leadership and guidance to all human resources activities of the College including workforce planning, talent acquisition and onboarding, employee and labor relations, employee engagement and retention, training and leadership development, and total rewards. This position reports to the Vice President of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion and serves as a member of the College cabinet.

This position has overall responsibility for planning, organizing and staffing the areas of HR operations and employee/labor relations functions for approximately 400 classified and unclassified employees to ensure the organization can execute its organizational strategies equitably and in compliance with all collective bargaining agreement or plans, laws, and regulations. This position serves as the Senior Human Resources Officer and Affirmative Action/ADA Officer for the College. Principles of diversity, affirmative action, and equal opportunity will be applied to all College human resources practices. This position involves significant discretion and substantial involvement in the development, interpretation and implementation of College policy.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in human resources, labor relations, psychology, or related field;
  • Five (5) years of successful professional experience in human resource management;
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in leadership, management, and supervision;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of equity and inclusion principles and standards;
  • Ability to identify and address problems with confidentiality, diplomacy, and integrity;
  • Demonstrated competence in interpreting and complying with federal and state law and organizational policies;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of information systems used to support Human Resource functions and willingness to learn new systems.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree;
  • Professional HR certification (SHRM-SCP, SHRM-CP, SPHR, PHR);
  • Leadership experience in higher education, non-profit, or government;
  • Experience with collective bargaining and contract administration;
  • Experience in strategic planning, project management, and change management initiatives;
  • High degree of computer literacy and ability to use technology to develop business process efficiencies.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $136,000.00 per year
