Position Details:
MiraCosta College is excited to announce a new position that will be hired this spring to further our work in Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access (IDEA). This newly created leadership position went through our College's new employee request process for four consecutive years and was ranked as a high priority by our budget planning committee (BPC).

The Chief IDEA Officer (CIDEAO) is the result of years of work at our institution to develop an equity-centered mission, vision, and values and a bold commitment to become a racially just organization. We have built structures and processes to allow us to operate, hire, research, plan, update policies and procedures, develop curriculum and co-curricular activities and supports with equity, anti-racism, and futures lenses. In preparing various areas of our organization to support this position, we have modified job duties, evaluations, and professional learning for the board of trustees, executives, and administrators. We have worked with employee groups to enhance professional learning around IDEA and incorporated this into our hiring and evaluation processes.

We have built out a Student Equity Department, engaged students through our Social Justice and Equity Center (SJEC), and fostered strong Academic Success and Equity (ASE) programs, such as Puente, Umoja, Mana, Raffy, Transitions, and Uprise. We continue to hire equity-minded employees and engage employees through robust IDEA professional development, the cultural curriculum collective, and the Cultural Competency Conference each year. We have designed an Equity Village Concept to provide supportive spaces for our marginalized students. The Equity Village will be constructed in a combination of new and renovated spaces when the student services division moves into its new building on the Oceanside Campus. Find out more about our DEI work.

We seek a candidate who can collaboratively lead the way in our IDEA efforts and enhance the application of best practices and scholarly focus. This position will also collaborate with constituent groups across the campus and our broader community to assess, plan, develop, and build the infrastructure and institutional capacity for IDEA and anti-racism.
The person selected for this position will be subject to assignment to any district facility during any hours of operation.
The first-level interviews with the screening and interview committee will be conducted via Zoom. The second-level interviews may be in person or via Zoom.
