General Statement:

The Program Coordinator of Phi Theta Kappa and the Student Support and Mentoring Center is responsible for planning, developing, and administering functions for the Phi Theta Kappa students, student orientation and leadership development programming. The coordinator will work in concert with the Student Life and Leadership department to assist in providing educational and social programming for the campus. The Greenhouse space and staff.

Supervision Exercised:

The Program Coordinator of Phi Theta Kappa and Student Support and Mentoring Center exercises direct supervision over part time staff and work-study students in the Phi Theta Kappa Office, Live and Learn Greenhouse and the SSMC.


 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversight and supervision of the Student Support and Mentoring Center (SSMC), Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) office, and Live and Learn Greenhouse.
  • Recruit, hire, train and provide orientation for the 03 worker and work study students who will work in the SSMC and for PTK.
  • Manage the daily responsibilities of the office as it relates to all chapter related files (students & event folders).
  • Develop student learning outcomes for students engage in the offices' programs.
  • Collecting and disseminating data related to student learning outcomes and the utilization of the SSMC, Phi Theta Kappa office and Live and Learn Greenhouse.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures in all areas.
  • Develop processes and systems that will translate to on and off campus learning modalities.
  • Plan, develop, and implement comprehensive student service and engagement opportunities for all members of Phi Theta Kappa, and Live and Learn Greenhouse students.
  • Manage new member information folders, transcript, P-Drive, and Headquarters.
  • Manage all communication between students and all offices.
  • Manage the Alumni PTK (Phi Theta Kappa) Chapter.
  • Organize and implement the yearly Phi Theta Kappa Induction Ceremony for 200 students.
  • Prepare all media (PowerPoints, slideshows, videos, invitations, etc.) for all major chapter events such as Induction, Gold Stole Recognition, Honors and Awards, New Member Open House, Scholarship workshops.
  • Manage the set up (work orders, IT services and food services) for all Chapter related events.
  • Collect data on all chapter related events, community service, and projects completed throughout the academic year to assist in the Yearly Report.
  • Work closely to provide programming and student learning opportunities for all students in conjunction with the Student Life Office.
  • Oversight of all budgetary decision making as it relates to all areas of responsibility.
  • Collaborate with internal QCC (Quinsigamond Community College) departments to coordinate volunteers' requests and assistance with their events
  • Update all social media for all areas

Job Requirements:


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Experience working with, motivating and providing programming for students
  • Availability to work evening and weekend activities as schedule may require
  • Ability to minimally travel to and from programming activities across multiple campus locations
  • Awareness of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice
  • Ability to contribute to and manage a database software
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office or comparable computer software.
  • Understanding of the diverse nature of college student population.
  • Experience in providing academic advising and/or experience with career development and planning.
  • Experience working with Worcester-based community organizations and/or knowledge of the Central Massachusetts Community.
  • Understanding of how to successfully program remotely if needed
  • Bilingual or multicultural, Spanish or other foreign languages preferred.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to discussion, integrating, and promoting Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice.
